“I was never really into any particular genre of music growing up. I had a somewhat sporadic direction in trying to find my way and I think it’s fair to say I kissed a few frogs before finding my prince! I’m not ashamed to say at one point I remember nodding to Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Outta My Head. In fact, I think the first single I actually bought was Wamdue Project – King Of My Castle!

I essentially have a good friend of mine to thank for getting me into hip-hop. I remember going round his house and he would bump compilations filled with material from Jay, Pac and Cube. He would ridicule me for my limited music knowledge and I think it was this craving for social compliance which eventually got me kick started. Because of my age, I was a product of the Ja Rule era and this is where my journey began (Although I distinctly remember Royce from the moment he appeared on GTA3’s Game Radio FM with his tracks I’m The King and Spit Game).

As my curiosity in the genre fostered and through the revelation which was dial-up Internet, my horizons started to broaden and I found refuge in the capable hands of Dr. Dre and his Aftermath counterparts. Things soon escalated and after a brief stint under the wings of the Doctor, I found my true home after stumbling into Mobb Deep’s The Infamous. It was here that my love for the 90′s was born and I spent the next few years gathering as much as I could from an era which, at the time, I was just too young to even know existed.

Now equipped with my new-found niche and developed opinion: I had a sense of perspective. Disillusioned with the diversifying state of hip-hop I took a dive underground with the help of the Jedi Mind Tricks movement before reaching the ultimate stage I find myself today. No doubt my journey is still far from complete.”
