Waka Flocka Flame and Drake-Round of Applause Remix

First Lex Luger beat I ever got to rap on…feel like I got seat B60 on Southwest…everybody has gone in before me…but we made it happen!

Unfortunately, the quality of the first two releases from Drake doesn’t carry over here as this is extremely boring. Lex Luger serves up a somewhat confusing production, as it veers between his usual intense, urgent style and a more relaxed beat, two rather opposite ends of the audio spectrum that do not blend well. There’s rreally no highlight here, as the beat doesn’t feel like it works properly for Drake, whilst Waka limitations as a rapper are exposed once again here. Not anything I’ll be playing again, but one the mainstream fans may enjoy.

YC, Young Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, Waka Flocka Flame, CyHi Da Prynce, Bun B, B.o.B, Yo Gotti, Wale, Cory Gunz, Dose, Cory Mo, Nelly, Twista, Big Sean, Trae Tha Truth and Ace Hood-Racks Remix

Couple of days off on this, but with 15 rappers on one song, I think you’ll probably let it slide. For those that aren’t familiar with Racks, it’s essentially one of those infectious mainstream hip-hop tracks that comes out of nowhere and takes on a life of its own, helped in part by various rappers jumping on the beat (don’t worry, I’ve labelled them in order for you!).

14 of them join YC here, some having released remixes prior to this official all-star compliation, with most being very well known names. It’s hard to pick a winning verse from the bunch, though B.o.B, Trae Tha Truth and Nelly (surprisingly) made enjoyable contributions.

Waka Flocka Teams Up With SB.TV & MySpace To Find UK’s Hottest New Rapper

“Having sold over 2 million copies of his Stateside hit single ‘No Hands’, rap sensation Waka Flocka Flame turns his attention to the UK with the launch of an exciting new competition in conjunction with Myspace, SBTV and Warner Bros. Records.

To enter the competition, aspiring rappers need to download the instrumental version of ‘No Hands’ from www.myspace.com/lookwakanohands. The entrant will then need to record their own lyrics over the instrumental, upload the track to their own profile under the title No Hands MySpace Comp and then complete the entry form on the competition’s profile page. One winner will win a breaking artist prize package consisting of a release of the track by Warner Bros. Records, superstar promotion courtesy of Myspace and a Warm Up session on SBTV (www.sbtv.co.uk), the UK’s leading youth media channel on YouTube with over 42 million views.

The competition closes at 2pm on Wednesday April 13th.

Pretty cool competition, which is open to everyone folks…even you!

Waka Flocka Flame-Trained To Go ft. French Montana

As Waka Flocka gears us up for the release of his new (and rather catchy!) single, No Hands, on April 18th, he comes through with a free download for us to sink our teeth into until then. Featuring respected New York rapper French Montana (as well some other randoms), this is a track predictably tailored to be played loudly and/or in the whip.

Produced by Lex Luger; so you know this goes H.A.M. Download link below.

DJ Khaled-Welcome To My Hood (Remix) ft. Ludacris, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, Mavado, Twista, Birdman, Ace Hood, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Bun B, Game & Waka Flocka

Is this the longest title we’ve ever seen on OTU? It’s certainly up there! DJ Khaled enlists a plethora of rappers to take on the remix of his recent(ish) single, Welcome To The Hood.

I can’t be the only one, but I’m pretty tired of these remixes by him where he just sticks a load of guest verses on it and expects a hit. Having said that I really wanted to hear the Game verse on this and thus had to check it out. I’m also pretty sure there’s a lot of you out there who still lap this stuff up, so who am I to hate on it?

Summary: I don’t like this and I didn’t like the original either, you might though.

Waka Flocka Flame-No Hands ft. Wale & Roscoe Dash [Video]

I don’t often check out Waka’s music in all honesty, but you know exactly what to expect from him. High in energy, and fundamentally mainstream music.

Not necessarily a bad thing, we all like to listen to music that doesn’t cause us to think too much sometimes. This is his new single with Roscoe Dash and Wale, the latter being someone whose music I do enjoy a fair bit, so I was more open to listening to this. This is a single that amassed over a million sales in the US and is a video that has been viewed more than 26 million times on Youtube: you simply cannot argue with those stats!

Roscoe provides an enjoyable (Soulja Boy-like) auto-tuned chorus that is rather catchy; I do enjoy Wale on productions like this too, with his verse being the best of the three. Nothing revolutionary about the video, but it re-enforces the essence of the track and the playability of it in your favourite night spots. The single will be released here in the UK on the 18th of April.

Torch, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Waka Flocka Flame, S.A.S. and Bigz-Bang Yo City Remix

Rick Ross’ buddy Torch grabs two of the UK’s finest for the official remix to his apparent hit, Bang Yo City. You can see the appeal of this track to the mainstream hip-hop crowd, with a strong production that has the ominous, nod-your-head style that seems prevalent in the mainstream scene.

Great to to see S.A.S. and Bigz get international recognition with the features here, and both come through with enjoyable verses. Can’t really complain about any of the verses on the track in honesty (I doubt anyone’s expecting a lyrical masterclass) and they all fit the style and vibe of the track nicely. One of those that’ll certainly give you a little shot of motivation and energy.

T-Pain-Black and Yellow Remix

T-Pain takes a spin on Wiz Khalifa’s great single here, adding a surprisingly enjoyable twist on the track. Undoubtedly, this guy can bring energy when he wants to and this beat is very well suited to him when he switches up to that style. Really worth a listen if you’re a fan of the original and/or T-Pain. I’ve also thrown in a bonus that was sent across, which remixes a Waka Flocka track I choose to know nothing about.

MTV Announces The 'Hottest MCs In The Game'

This list loses more respect year-by-year. If you’re not familiar, they pick the ‘top 10′ mainstream MCs based on ‘rhyme skill, flow, buzz, commercial success, business ventures, Web presence and cultural influence’.

Realistically, they don’t. Some extended thoughts on the list are available after the click, as well as a revised list using the line-up they picked. I’m not going to dare to go into who I think should be on the list, as we’ll be here all day…

Diamond-Hit Dat Hoe ft. Waka Flocka [Prod. by Lex Luger]

Upcoming female mc, Diamond, raps over a beat by upcoming super-producer Lex Luger and features upcoming ignorant spitter, Waka Flocka Flame.

Not a bad track, you should know what you’re going to get with a Lex Luger joint by now!

Waka Flocka Flame/Travis Barker - Hard In The Paint [remix]

Once upon a time I could claim to have never heard a Waka Flocka song – damn you Travis Barker for remixing this and making me not only check this out, but like it too. I can only describe the beat on this as hard.
