Rapsody-The Idea of Beautiful (Album)

I don’t know a great deal about Rapsody, but the album’s warming title and artwork coupled with a phenomenal lineup of features makes this one that I’m very eager to check out sooner rather than later.

Assists on this one come from Childish Gambino, Rocki Evans, Mac Miller, The Cool Kids, Ab-Soul, Raheem DeVaughn and more. I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s as close to grabbing a complete who’s who of upcoming rappers as anyone’s come in recent months, and not only does that add star power, but it gives Rapsody plenty to compete with and live up to. With such weighty cosigns I’m sure he’ll have some quality to deliver, and you can stream or download the album over at DJBooth below.

Styles P-The Diamond Life Project (Mixtape)

Someone you can generally count on for a solid project, The Ghost comes through with a brand new 11-track boasting a raft of features and producers to make any hip-hop fan salivate.

Amongst others, beatmakers on this one include Lex Luger, Ted Smooth and The Alchemist, whilst the backup in terms of MCs comes from Pusha T, Bun B, Curren$y, Jadakiss and more. He’s even enlisted Raheem DeVaughn for a hook, a track I’m sure will prove to be one of the standouts. Kindly delivered for free, you can grab yours below.

Raheem DeVaughn-Destination Loveland Mixtape

14 brand new tracks from one of R&B’s smoother artists? Your girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/other can thank him later, as Raheem DeVaughn drops off a perfectly-timed mixtape.

Many of those looking to grab this will also likely be familiar with one of his releases from this tape, the likeable Be The One, found in the most recent episode of R&B Fridays (I use ‘Friday’ loosely). I’m sure there’s plenty more of that ilk to be found on this 14-track freebie, and you can find out for yourself with the £0 grab below.

R&B Fridays: Episode 137

A few more tracks than usual this week, and from an enjoyably-eclectic range of acts, including Raheem DeVaughn, Lloyd, and many more.

Just the two noteworthy posts to recap on, with a free 4-track EP from The Internet, who solidified their place as one of my current favourites in the wider R&B scene (given that R&B doesn’t categorise their music with any great accuracy), and of course the second instalment of our popular 5-track Winter EP.

Click below for another 5 tracks to add to this week’s plentiful bounty.

R&B Fridays: Episode 129

Two remixes and a brand new track this week, with contributions from Chris Brown, Phil Ade, Asher Roth and Raheem DeVaughn.

The debut of our new 5-part feature The Winter EP makes up the bulk of the R&B/soul-related content from this week, though an excellent new video from the talented Daley also warrants attention from the R&BF following.

R&B Fridays: Episode 113

Another very diverse episode this week, with some mainstream folk sitting alongside a couple of old-school favourites to provide a little bit of everything.

Three interesting tracks to recap on from the week just gone, with Aloe Blacc releasing some new visuals, a brand new mixtape from upcoming UK soul singer Daley, and a new video from his fellow Brit, Cleo Sol.

Raheem DeVaughn-Jackin' For Beats Vol. 2 (Mixtape)

Seemingly out of nowhere, Raheem drops the sequel to his very enjoyable mixtape from late last year. It’s certainly odd that he’s not really hyped this or created much fanfare, considering the quality of his remixes and covers, and that of the aforementioned mixtape.

Can’t be too critical though, as I’m sure the material will be enjoyable, and a glance at the tracklist tells me that he’s picked out a few tracks that look very, very suited to his style, so I’m hoping for some solid soul/R&B material here. Click below for the free grab, and click here for Vol. 1.

R&B Fridays: Episode 86

All good things come to an end, and my recent run of posting these on time has been broken. The football fans out there will also note that another streak was broken today, but we are NOT getting into that.

A quick round-up from the week gone by: UK upcomer Talay Riley grabs Wretch 32 for a remix of his single, Timbaland’s latest weekly instalment, Trey Songz’s take on Chris Brown’s latest single, and finally a medley of incredible Michael Jackson covers from the fantastic Patrick Stump.

Lots of big names in this week’s episode, and many that will certainly catch your mainstream eyes. Click below for a sweet-smelling blast of R&B to your sweaty, sweaty face.

R&B Fridays: Episode 84

No recap this week thanks to a temperamental hard drive, but R&B Fridays actually makes it out on a Friday for the second consecutive week, which is a pretty big victory.

Lots of remixes and rappers popping up this week, with some huge names coming through with some very unexpected pop and R&B remixes. More than enough original material too though, making this a very diverse episode that’ll satisfy the vast majority of you grubby little folk.

Click on and let me be the Snoop to your Cameron, though R&B/pop probably isn’t the same as marijuana…probably.

Saigon-It's Cold

Can you believe The Greatest Story Never Told is actually being released!? It’s debatable whether people still care in truth, but for the longtime fans it’s certainly exciting. Tracklisting for it can be found after the click below.

It’s Cold isn’t on the album, but is another top track from Sai. Oddly, it appears none of us posted Bring Me Down, which is probably one of the best tracks he’s put out in a very long time, and Sai continues that quality with this track. It’s got a more ‘positive’ production than the aforementioned track, throwing a lighter melody in with easygoing percussion to push his raps to the forefront, and Sai doesn’t disappoint with decent flow and lyrics. Probably preferred the darker style of Bring Me Down, but this is still a good track.

Raheem DeVaughn-She’s Single Video

So, this is most definitely not safe for work/school!

From his recently-released Jackin’ 4 Beats mixtape, Raheem remixes Lil’ Wayne’s Single and comes through with a video that’s sent the internet into a frenzy. Extremely raunchy, there’s no skimping on the details (as far as a music video goes) and Raheem pretty much fills in the blanks with his lyrics.

It’s a funny thing to say, but this ‘explicit’ style of video really does go with the track, and the sultry nature of the production lends itself to this daring style of music video. Audio can be found on the mixtape.

Raheem DeVaughn-Jackin' 4 Beats Mixtape

Radio Raheem comes through with his latest project, and it’s one I can’t wait to listen to. The tracks we’ve caught so far, as well as his other recent material, have all been of a really high standard and hence I’ve got great expectations for this tape.

From the looks of the tracklist, it seems as though it’s predominantly a covers/remixes mixtape, which works fine for me and will probably serve as a good introduction for those of you who are unfamiliar with the man’s work. Click here to catch whatever we’ve released from him thus far, and head below for the full tape.

R&B Fridays: Episode 74

Bumper episode this week, with 20 tracks making the cut. It’s been a pretty busy time for R&B, hence I’ve let plenty of big R&B/pop tracks loose early this week.

The recap: Drake’s full version Fall For Your Type, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj’s first collaboration, a diverse track from Christian Rich, Trey Songz and Keri’s remix of a Dirty Money track, the final version of a great Lloyd track, and some ‘new’ Michael Jackson music.

A lengthy catchup, and it’s followed by a big episode: click below to get involved.

R&B Fridays: Episode 70

Over the last 70 episodes, we’ve delivered music from your favourite acts, introduced you to some new and exiciting ones, and of course given a new lease of life to otherwise forgotten artists. To celebrate that, I’ve ensured this week’s episode covers all of that ground nicely, to keep everyone satisfied.

Not much to recap on this week, besides two big video premieres from Rihanna and Lloyd. Click on to grab a chunky, 20+ track episode that’ll keep you going for a while.

R&B Fridays: Episode 58

Let’s be honest here, my comeback was never going to feel complete until I dropped one of these. Indi’s done a cracking job over the last few weeks, keeping the R&B Fridays standards high and giving you all your weekly dose of R&B.

Taking 3 weeks away from new music (it’s taking forever to catch up…) has given me a clear head and fresh perspective on each of the tracks this week (admittedly, I’ve become less critical as a result!), so click on and grab some R&B from big names and newcomers alike. Do it. NOW.

R&B Fridays: Episode 54

Here it is: my last R&B Friday for around a month. Don’t you worry though, we’ve got plenty planned to keep you supplied and satisfied.

This week has material from a really wide range of artists and styles, from established artists like Timbaland to newcomers such as Sammie. Good stuff to keep you going until the surprises in store for you next week, be sure to click on and enjoy some R&B.

R&B Fridays: Episode 40

40 episodes. Wow.

Click on for a 21-track barrage of music, including new music from Lloyd, Jagged Edge, Cheryl Cole and a stunner from R. Kelly. Before you do all that, make sure you check out the R&B Throwback I dropped earlier this week from Sterling Simms. Done that? Good.

FYI, Megan Fox has absolutely nothing to do with this episode. She just came for the 40th episode celebrations.

R&B Fridays: Episode 35

Quite the range of acts once again, both in terms of popularity and age, with the boy Justin Bieber making an appearance as well as veterans Jagged Edge. Not too much range in the quality though: it’s predominantly good stuff as I’ve taken time to root out (most of) the poor stuff. Any crap stuff is just there to make the rest look better.

I’ve been listening to a lot of R&B this week, so click on to sort yourself out for the coming week.

R&B Fridays: Episode 31

Unusual episode this one. I actually had a vast majority of this material with me by the end of Saturday night and could have probably written an entire episode right there. There was a great deal dropped later in the week too, making this episode 19 tracks deep and in terms of quality it’s potentially one of the best yet.

Click below for new/unreleased music from Usher, Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars and many more. As usual, a couple of newer artists in there too. Before you do though, be sure to grab this fantastic Christina Milian track that Indi liberated (and consequentially robbed from this episode!) earlier this week.

R&B Fridays (on Saturday): Episode 28

You thought I’d forgotten? Shame on you. I’m allowed a day off for Christmas.

The last R&B Friday of 2009 is packed to the rafters, with 21 (!!) tracks from a glut of good names. Beyoncé (with a Ne-Yo assist) anchors the bunch with a surprisingly high number of tracks in this one, and there are of course many other superb artists waiting for your attention after the click.

R&B Fridays: Episode 25

bruno
On picture duty for the 25th episode is a young newcomer who I am going to be tracking very closely, as he’s going to be huge: Bruno Mars was recently featured on B.o.B’s phenomenal “debut” single and is featured twice in this episode.

Leona Lewis, R. Kelly, Bobby Valentino and others provide tracks too, so click on and grab some goodness.
