Travis Barker, Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes and Lil Jon-Let's Go Video

If the lineup wasn’t enough clarification, the latest set of visuals from Travis Barker’s solo album (available now) are pretty much swelling with energy and intensity.

Yela, Busta and Twista come through with very enjoyable raps, each bringing high-tempo, high-octane verses that make the most of an edgy, guitar-tinged production, whilst Lil Jon actually fits in rather well with his aggressive style on the hook enhancing the intensity of the track. Barker is typically solid on the drums, though its his general production work here that shines through, serving up a production that creates a nice platform for each rapper to work with.

Decent video, focused largely around a somewhat gothically-styled auction (?!), with the dim, grainy shooting style adding a darkness to the audio that enhances the rock influence on the production. Enhances the audio well enough, and worth a watch. Found on the Give The Drummer Some album, available on iTunes and so forth.

R&B Fridays: Episode 97

Lots of slow jams and collaborations in this week’s episode, some of which are certainly noteworthy not only for their lineup, but also as they’re potentially quite prominent singles from upcoming albums.

Recap from this week’s postings: a new Jagged Edge mixtape, Ryan Leslie’s latest video/single, visuals for J*Davey’s fantastic Raincheck, and finally a very unexpected UK-US collab between David Banner, Estelle and Daley.

Lil' Jon, Ice Cube, Sean Garrett, Twista & Many More-Oh Yeah Remix

I didn’t know who to pick for the picture, so please enjoy this welcome dose of hilarity.

I’ve never heard of Ray Rizzy but he’s grabbed 9 other names for this track, and some of them are pretty big deals. Ice Cube would be the standout in the list, especially given that the nature of the other guests (Lil’ Jon, Garrett etc.) implies this will probably be fairly poppy and club-oriented.

Ray Rizzy-Oh Yeah Remix ft. Lil’ Jon, Jazze Pha, Dorrough, Aliesa Nicole, Verse Simmonds, Ice Cube, Sean Garrett, Twista & Young Dro

Young Jeezy/Lil' Jon - Jizzle

What the hell is a ‘jizzle’!? What the hell is Jeezy doing collaborating with Lil’ Jon? New leak from the, erm, Jizzle’s Thug Motivation 3 album, can’t say this track impressed me really and from the leaks of this album so far, I’m not really that excited about it much if I’m honest.

R&B Fridays: Episode 53

Consistency is the key, and like last week there are 18 tracks for you to check out. Pretty much full of names you should be familiar with by now,  giving everything a go this week is made a lot easier in that respect.

Savour these episodes-next week could be my last R&B Friday for a few weeks as I’m going away. What/who will substitute for them you ask? Wait and see. Still one more to go after this one though!

R&B Fridays: Episode 51

Good amount of stuff in here for your enjoyment, without swarming you with too many tracks. As ever, there’s a lot of variety with some upcomers, newcomers and established artists all contributing this week.

Couple of R&B posts this week you may have missed: the final version of Johnta Austin’s Close Your Eyes, and the official video for The-Dream’s Make Up Bag. After those treats, click on for some more.

New Jay Sean & Lil Jon

Now I’m not fan of Lil Jon but this is a great track, produced by David Guetta so you know this is going to be a club hit – very minimal Lil Jon on this anyway. You may remember a demo of this track being let loose by Ajay a while back, it was good then and even better now. This will certainly be in my playlist for a while and yours too I suspect. Go get it below.

R&B Fridays: Episode 34

Mixture of tracks this week, with a couple of new artists (to this site at least) making appearances. As well as them, there’s big names such as Lloyd (with an official remix of Bedrock), J.Lo and more.

R&B Fridays: Episode 31

Unusual episode this one. I actually had a vast majority of this material with me by the end of Saturday night and could have probably written an entire episode right there. There was a great deal dropped later in the week too, making this episode 19 tracks deep and in terms of quality it’s potentially one of the best yet.

Click below for new/unreleased music from Usher, Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars and many more. As usual, a couple of newer artists in there too. Before you do though, be sure to grab this fantastic Christina Milian track that Indi liberated (and consequentially robbed from this episode!) earlier this week.

Tyrese-jr14
New/unreleased tracks this week from Usher, Lloyd, Tyrese and many more to keep you going. Before you scurry off to click through, there have been a couple of tracks dropped this week that were more than capable of headlining today’s episode, but I chose to release them earlier. Head here, this way, that way, and finally here to see which stuff I’m talking about.

Once you’ve done that, come back here, and continue your R&B adventures with more quality music. Deal?

Mainstream Mega Post: Features Edition

gucci-spotlight-singlecover-449x449
When I found myself getting 3 Gucci Mane tracks today, I realised something: I’ve just quadrupled my number of Gucci tracks from 1 to 4. I still don’t like him, but he’s steadily becoming a very big deal in mainstream hip-hop. All 7 of the tracks in this post are feature heavy, and include appearances from Trey Songz, Diddy, Lil’ Jon and others.

Jay Sean Megapost

jaysean
Back to regularly scheduled programming. Not sure what to drop first on here, so we’ll ease you back from R&B Friday with some new Jay Sean tracks.

Before you hit the click below, congratulations to Jay for going to #1 on the US singles charts with Down. That’s a great accomplishment, and it will be interesting to see where he goes from here. I’ve been (rightfully) critical of him at times, but you can’t deny the guy his success: he dropped a killer single and got rewarded for it.
