Genesis Elijah-I Aint Even Charging Bruv Free EP

Shout out to Chunter for this one. UK emcee Genesis drops us fans a free EP whilst we wait for his new upcoming album I Ain’t Even Started Bruv.

Gen is one of the finest emcees to come out of the UK and I expect this to be a solid effort over a variety of different beats. Can’t hate on emcees dropping free material!

Now as I am yet to release this to my eardrums, I’ll be off to bed with a pair of headphones and this. Do the same by getting your hands on it here.

Genesis Elijah-Battle Cry [Video]

Genesis Elijah goes in on one of my favourite tracks of last year (originally done by Joell Ortiz) and absolutely spazzes out. I was a little surprised other emcees didn’t really take this beat on, given how epic it is and even more surprised to see a UK emcee spit on it. Delighted that Genesis Elijah has though and supplements it with a video for us to enjoy too.

Lyrically it’s clear to see Genesis is in a league of his own right now in this country. Following from a decent 2010 for him, expect to hear a lot more from him this year.

Genesis Elijah-Mike Lowery Remix

Genesis Elijah not only takes on Skepta’s recent Mike Lowery track, but he obliterates it. So much so that Skepta tweeted Genesis Elijah and applauded his effort.

The dark tones of this grimey track sound very well suited to Genesis Elijah’s style.

Genesis Elijah-Doing My Damn Thing Video

Our boy Gen comes in with the visuals for his lead single from upcoming LP Before I Was Famous.

Shot on and around the public transport system of Brixton, the video compliments its audio by emphasizing the hype you will hear through your speakers whilst representing Genesis’ roots and down-to-earth nature. The scene variation keeps the visuals fresh and very watchable through to the end.

Jack the audio from here.

Genesis Elijah – Doing My Damn Thing

Brand new audio from our boy Genesis Elijah, holding down UK hip-hop with his new single from his upcoming album: Before I Was Famous.

For his latest effort, Gen teams up with Plymouth production powerhouse duo The Krate Krusaders who grace Doing My Damn Thing with a classy freshness missing from the UK scene right now. Somewhat paradoxically, Gen graciously glides over a mellow, thought-provoking backdrop with his characteristic gruff tone.

Check out Doing My Damn Thing and be sure to support Gen on November 15th by grabbing the single.

Come see Genesis support Canibus on October 21st at London’s Rhythm Factory.

Quick Throwback: Genesis Elijah

A quick throwback here to the joint which got me into Genesis back in 2005. I remember kicking back to what was ‘Channel U’ (Now Channel AKA) and the sombre backdrop creeping in before Gen’s unique vocals take the rest of the track away.

So Hip Hop can be found on Gen’s critically-acclaimed debut Deh Pon Road and you can see the man himself in action on October 21st at the Rhythm Factory.

Unfortunately, this event has had to be cancelled due to events outside of OTU Live and Canibus’ control. Keep your eyes peeled for our next event!

Context MC / Genesis Elijah - Feeling Alone [Video]

Lead single/visuals from UK artist Context MC for his upcoming album The Cadmean Victory.

Thought-provoking track and features a tidy verse from Genesis Elijah who was actually one of the very first UK MC’s I got into back in ’06 with his So Hip Hop joint and crazy freestyle over Game’s Dreams beat.

Clicky below for some quality UK hip-hop.
