Evidence - It Wasn't Me [Video]

“Evidence, the Grammy award-winning producer and one-third of Hip Hop icons Dilated Peoples, returns on October 10th with ‘Cats & Dogs’, his second solo album and debut for Rhymesayers Entertainment (the label behind releases from Atmosphere, Brother Ali and MF Doom amongst others).

‘Cats & Dogs’ is an album of brutal honesty as Evidence opens up to the world like never before while maintaining his respected signature sound with the deadpan delivery and incomparable gravitas that earned him the title “Mr. Slow Flow.” His skills and distinctive style are complemented by an all-star cast of friends and collaborators including Raekwon, Prodigy, Rakaa, Slug, Aesop Rock, Ras Kass, Roc Marciano, Krondon, Lil Fame, Termanology and recent UK chart-topper Aloe Blacc.”

I wouldn’t say I know everything about Dilated Peoples but Evidence is definitely my favourite member from the group. Here he is with the video of a track from his second solo album, Cats & Dogs. The video here is very well done and features cameos from Will.I.Am and Rakaa. Well worth a watch and listen for you hip hop heads out there.

“Rhymesayers Entertainment is proud to announce its first ever European label tour, in association with Carhartt. The Rhymesayers European Tour is the first of its kind for the Rhymesayers collective and features heavyweight figureheads Atmosphere alongside label-mates Brother Ali, Evidence, Blueprint and Grieves & Budo.

The Rhymesayers European Tour will be headed by Atmosphere, who released their latest opus ‘The Family Sign’ this year. It reached number 12 on the US Billboard Charts and cemented their position as the brightest light in independent hip hop. The four-piece are consummate entertainers Having already rocked sold-out shows at London’s Koko and Scala as well as playing across Europe to packed crowds including this year’s Sonar Festival.”

That is one heck of a lineup, click on below to see the tour dates and to check out the soundcloud stream to hear some good reasons why you should attend one of these dates.

7L and Esoteric, Alchemist and Evidence-Drawbar 1-2 (+Album Info)

Great stuff. A line-up to get those hip-hop heads drooling, this track brings together some of the finest to great effect. The production is pretty decent, with a carnival-esque melody providing a slightly creepy, slightly jovial backdrop that allows the rappers to take the track and move it nicely into the lyrical directions.

Grab the track below, and click on further to see the tracklist for the upcoming 7LES album 1212 (check it out, some of the features are great). Album artwork is the picture included in this post.

7L & Esoteric - No Shots

If you like hip-hop, you really should be familiar with the underground duo of producer 7L and Army Of The Pharaohs’ MC, Esoteric.

First leak from their album 1212 which drops October 12th. Here Esoteric spits some rhymes on his thoughts of the current industry over 7L’s Rihanna-sampling instrumentals.

1212 boasts features from the likes of Ill Bill, Alchemist, Evidence, Inspectah Deck, Sadat X, Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled, Statik Selektah and OTU favourite Reef The Lost Cauze.

Evidence – To Be Continued… [Video]

This is awesome. Underground legend Evidence (of Dilated Peoples) filmed a video for his new single exclusively on a rollercoaster! Check it out for yourself on the left here…great track it is too which has that anthem feel to it. No free download for you on this one though, you can go support originality by grabbing it from iTunes.

Quick Blast(s): Rakaa (of Dilated Peoples)

Rakaa from Dilated Peoples is dropping his debut solo LP titled Crown Of Thorns on July 20th.

It will be interesting to see how well he holds his own on a full length LP without the rest of his DP counterparts. On the evidence (see what I did there!?) of these two drops though, I have a feeling he will be just fine.

On these two we have production from frequent Mobb Deep collaborators Alchemist and Sid Roams so that is a straight up win for me on that front. Vocally, Rakaa enlists Evidence, Defari and Fashawn. Again, win. Two very different tracks. Two very different outcomes. Looking forward to this.

Underground Hip-Hop Part 7

murraycanibus
A clearout of the inbox and BOOM: It throws up another UGHH for the hip-hop heads to enjoy.

This one is (mostly) full of artists who haven’t been featured on the site before, so amidst all the mainstream music that’s been up recently, we’ve gone so underground that you’re gonna need some sort of torch.
