Elle Varner-I Don't Care (Video)

Big fan of this song when it dropped back in July, and this video is a great reminder of its quality.

Elle’s vocals are at their raw, emotional best throughout this one, whilst her lyricism is honest and largely unfussy: the resulting combination is a ton of relatability and piles of listenability, and whilst the production tries at various points to overthrow Elle’s command over the track, her excellent presence both on the mic and in the video ensures that never happens.

The clip solidifies her as one of the more likeable upcoming talents, with plenty of facetime spread across regular performance shots and some more intimate moments, capturing the audio’s hybrid combination of bedroom music and powerful soul. There’s not much to dislike here, and I’m sure the R&B and soul heads will enjoy this. Grab the track on her Perfectly Imperfect album now.

Elle Varner-I Don't Care

I’m assured her Perfectly Imperfect album is still on the way, and if the material continues to be of this quality, let’s hope that’s the case. It’s been a couple of months since she dropped anything new, but returns here with a strong effort that will entertain her current fans and win her some new ones.

A real vintage R&B vibe on this one, with a vocal delivery that moves from sultry to emotional with ease, resulting in a frighteningly addictive performance from Elle, whilst her lyrical output matches that with some pretty open and honest songwriting. The production makes great use of a thudding percussion to drive it along at a steady pace, with light keys adding a touch of softness into the mix for the verses, before some positive synth work joins Elle on the excellent hook. Could be a really popular song for Elle, and it’s one I’ll be giving plenty of playtime.

Elle Varner-Conversational Lush Mixtape

One from a few days ago, but undoubtedly worth a look nonetheless as the talented Elle Varner comes through with a free 13-track project that should satisfy her ever-growing horde of fans.

The soulful yet modern style of Elle has a nice unique flavour that carries across all of her tracks, whilst each track she’s released has still retained a nice sense of eclecticism and uniqueness. There are a few tracks on here that Elle’s followers will already be familiar with, but the vast majority is brand new material that seems to have already garnered plenty of critical and fan acclaim. You can stream and download the full project for free over at Elle’s Soundcloud page below.
