Plan B - Deepest Shame + Remix ft. Ed Sheeran, Devlin & Chip

Deepest Shame is the new single from the multi-talented Plan B and is taken from his #1 album ill Manors. A nice video for a great and sensitive song. Ed Sheeran, Devlin and Chip all feature on the remi, which you can check out in the second video, putting a dance and slightly more uplifting spin on the track. A very good listen. You can get the ill Manors album from the following: iTunes Deluxe, iTunes Standard, iTunes US (+ Film Score).

Devlin ft Ed Sheeran & Labrinth - No Church in the Wild/Watchtower

Devlin, Ed Sheeran and Labrinth blessed BBC Maida Vale studios with their presence to deliver a delightful cover of Kanye & Jay-Z’s No Church in the Wild. They also performed Devlin’s and Ed Sheeran’s latest excellent collaboration, which you can buy the single for right now by clicking here.

Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32 & Devlin - You Need Me, I Don't Need You Remix

The original version was back on the EP of the same name, a remixed version was released recently as part of Ed’s upcoming debut LP, and now a new remix has surfaced with two of the UK’s finest upcoming rappers.

Ed Sheeran’s ability as a vocalist needs no introduction, but alongside these hip-hop heavyweights, he demonstrates that he’s actually pretty handy with the rapping himself with an enjoyable opening verse. The production is ideal for a speedy flow, and that’s exactly what Ed brings here with a delivery that would certainly make most rappers proud. Wretch follows up with a solid verse of his own, with his laidback style blending nicely with the busy beat, and the lineup is complete with Devlin’s verse, bringing a quick, aggressive style that contrasts nicely with Wretch’s verse and certainly stands out as the match-winning verse.

Throughout the verses the video is mostly comprised of studio footage, which works well for Devlin’s verse in particular as it enhances the intense rhymes, whilst the hook reverts to live footage of Ed’s shows, adding a little bit of diversity. Certainly worth a watch and listen, and the audio can be pre-ordered here.

Devlin, Yasmin, Ed Sheeran, Griminal & Lewi White-Young Guns [Video]

As premièred last week, here is the official video to this monster collaboration. Directed by Carly Cussen, definitely a feel to it being about four super-artists, literally, as each one controls an element each. Nicely symbolic of their roles as a group and also individually in the music scene today.

As always, good to see some air-time for each of these artists and the song itself is produced excellently by Lewi White. The single is available to download now for you all to enjoy over at iTunes. More of this please!

Devlin, Yasmin, Ed Sheeran & Griminal-Young Guns

Been really looking forward to this ever since I spied murmurings between these artists on Twitter several months ago! Amidst rumours that these guys will be bringing us some sort of EP/album (I say rumours as I can’t remember if I actually read about this or whether I’ve just made that up in my head!) this collaboration was finally premièred earlier on BBC 1xtra Mista Jam. Just a radio rip that you can listen to on the left here for now, but a video has been made for this (by the director Carly Cussen, who brought us the Pow 2011 video), so look out for that very soon.

As for the song itself, is there really much to talk about? Liked Ed Sheeran’s Collaborations EP? You’ll like this. Like Yasmin’s vocals? You’ll like this. Like Griminal’s and Devlin’s raps? Yeah you get the point. With this single due for release later this month, expect a barrage of promotion coming your way from four very talented and acclaimed UK artists.

Devlin & Ed Sheeran-Lately [Live]

Devlin and Ed Sheeran give us a live performance of their collaboration together on Freshly Squeezed. Great to hear this acoustic version live, giving it a different and more softer sound to what we heard on Ed’s Collaborations EP. Here’s what I said about the track in my review of that EP:

“Ed and Devs go bar for bar, in a manner reminiscent of the infamous and incredible footage of them both freestyling backstage at an Example gig. They certainly recreate the same chemistry they showed in that video and deliver a track that wouldn’t sound out of place on Devlin’s recent critically-acclaimed Bud, Sweat and Beers album. The name of the track is Lately and it’s essentially a lyrical tale of the famous saying, ‘I can sleep when I’m dead’. Both artists can certainly relate to each other in terms of how hard they’ve worked to get where they are: this is a song that proclaims in the world of success, there’s no time for laziness.”

Don’t forget to check out OTU’s exclusive interview with Ed Sheeran himself, if you haven’t already!

Devlin On Radio 1 Live Lounge With Ed Sheeran

“Devlin was at Maida Vale this morning to perform on Radio1′s Live Lounge with Fearne Cotton. Devlin was joined by his band and his good friend and singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran to perform his latest single “Let It Go” and a mystery cover.”

Big fan of both of these artists and I do enjoy a good live lounge, so I was eager to listen to this. This certainly doesn’t disappoint and if, like me, you missed out on hearing this on Radio 1 this morning (yeah I didn’t get up until 11am, and what?), you have another chance to listen by clicking the link below.

Wretch 32-Locked In With Dj Swerve: 4th Feb

“Following the sellout success of the last Locked In event, which featured UK rapper Devlin at The Westbury, Kilburn, on the 14th January, Kiss FM’s Monday-Thursday 10pm DJ, Swerve, is back with another one for the second showcase of urban party flavours, this time featuring the chart topping artist, Wretch 32.

The monthly event (which has already seen Mz Bratt and Sway perform) is hosted by MC Mystro, famously known for getting the crowd hyped and ready to rave, and on the 4th Feb he’ll be working his magic before Swerve himself takes to the decks for two hours of R&B, hip hop, oldskool UKG and grime. Traktor artist Wretch 32 – known for his astounding lyrical content, flow and top five tune, will be hitting the stage to perform a few tracks.

Swerve, who recently put a massive production stamp on the industry with two of the best grime bangers of 2010 (D Double E – Street Fighter 4 & P Money – HO) has worked with the likes of Mc Clean, Lethal B and J2K to name a few, and will be bringing in surprise guests for the next dates of the Locked In tour on the March 4th and April 29th at The Westbury, Kilburn.”

Ed Sheeran-No. 5 Collaborations Project [Review]

I received a press copy of this about a month ago, and it’s a testament to how good the EP is that I’m still listening to it now. The quality of the EP and the incredible hard work Ed Sheeran and his team have put in have paid off, as this has bolted up to #2 in the iTunes download chart! I’m told it even had top spot for a brief time last night too (and when competing with Rihanna, this is no mean feat).

So who is Ed Sheeran? And how did someone whose main influences include the likes of Bob Dylan & Damien Rice come to collaborate with some of grime’s best artists? The 19-year old hails from East Anglia, first picking up his guitar and making songs in 2002. He got his big break appearing on SBTV, exposing Ed’s music to a whole new scene, resulting in contact with the artists who feature on the EP, amongst others (like Example, who enlisted Ed as tour support). Giggs Backstage At Tinchy Stryder Launch Party

A definitely inebriated Giggs takes over Westwood TV and takes us backstage of Tinchy Stryder’s recent album launch party. A must watch as far as I’m concerned, I had no idea Giggs was so hilarious! I was on the fence about him/his music, but after seeing this I’m now a fully fledged fan.

He may have a rep for being “arrrrrd” (being incarcerated for gun possession suggests it’s not just an image) but it’s great seeing him just having fun. People he interviews in this include: Devlin, Ghetts, JME, Skepta, Griminal, Mr Hudson, Tinchy Stryder and a fair few other artists as well as some randomers.

Click on below to see parts 2 and 3 of this (towards the end of part 3 he kicks some freestyles to some American production, ironically one of them being a Young Jeezy beat!).

Devlin-Let It Go ft. Labrinth [Video]

Let It Go is the fourth single from Devlin’s critically acclaimed debut album, Bud, Sweat and Beers. Definitely my favourite video that Devlin has given us thus far, and the visuals really do enhance the overall feel of the song.

The track features Labrinth, who of course was the orchestrator behind Tinie Tempah’s hit singles Pass Out and Frisky.

With the track being about relationship troubles, and that moment of realisation that no matter how hard you try to make it work, it’s beyond repair: the director of the video’s done a great job in conveying the emotions Devlin emits through his lyrics; showing anger, hurt, lust and surprisingly even loneliness.

You can get Bud Sweat and Beers from iTunes right now – one of the few UK releases this year definitely worth getting.

Devlin-Marching Through The Fog [Video]

Devlin gives us the latest visuals for a track that’s off his excellent debut album, Bud, Sweat and Beers album.

Marching Through The Fog is probably one of the hardest and grimiest tracks on the album, and it’s aimed at all the folk who thought he’s gone soft now that he’s been getting mainstream acclaim.

Tinchy Stryder-Game Over Official Video ft. Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example & Chipmunk

Official video to one of the biggest tracks in Grime history (yeah I’m putting it out there). I do feel at times that there’s too much dissing going on in the UK scene, I appreciate the competitive side of the genre and that it was a genre born from battling, but seeing the biggest MCs collaborate like they have on this track is just superb to see.

Nothing flashy about the video, but it’s pretty good, keeps the focus on each MC which highlights each of their unique lyrical ability and flow on the mic.

Best verse for me would have to go to Devlin, there’s nobody spitting like him over on these shores. Audio can be attained from here.

Tinchy Stryder-Game Over ft. Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example & Chipmunk

This track was premièred last week on the radio and I’ve been waiting impatiently for a good quality version. Thanks to London To MK, we finally have a CDQ of this star studded lineup.

UK stand up tall.

Devlin/Yasmin - Runaway [Video]

Posted the audio for this yesterday and now we have some visuals to enjoy! Can definitely see this making an impact in the UK charts.

Edit: Having properly watched the video now, I’ve decided Yasmin’s pretty lovely.

Devlin/Yasmin - Runaway

Here’s a new song by Devlin featuring the vocal talents of Yasmin. This leaked a little while back but that was a radio rip, so thought I’d hold off until a CDQ was leaked. Really looking forward to his album coming out, everything I’ve heard thus far has been great and to me he’s already cemented himself as one of the best rappers here in the UK.

Devlin - ZDot [Freestyle]

CD quality version of a Devlin freestyle (that was played on radio last week) has been released. If you have any doubts about this white UK rapper/grime artist, then this freestyle should free you of them. He can really spit.

Ghetts/Devlin/Griminal - We Control This

This is off Ghetts’ latest mixtape, The Calm Before The Storm, which you can buy from here. This track features two artists who I also happen to rate, so I was excited to see this collaboration – grime fans will like this.

Devlin - Brainwashed [Video]

The official first single from Devlin’s upcoming (much anticipated) album – Bud, Sweat and Beers.

Devlin’s made quite the name for himself in the underground scene here in the UK, and has firmly established himself as one of the most talented rappers on these shores. Very much looking forward to his album dropping, as his first and only mixtape (that dropped in 2006) – Tales Of The Crypt was praised highly by the masses. Audio can be acquired below.
