Ludacris-Rest Of My Life ft. Usher and David Guetta

The features on this tell you absolutely everything you need to know about this track. Luda’s struggling for sales in a difficult environment nowadays, and given that he’s not likely to lyrically compete with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, he’s gone the other way with a watered-down pop track.

It’s tough to criticise him as he’s rarely put out overtly mainstream-focused music, instead hovering the grey area that precedes that style, and now he’s looking to swell his bank account by making the full jump. The production is a predictable Guetta number, a pop track with lashings of heavy synths, whilst the Usher hook ensures the teenage girls take notice and have something to sing into their hairbrushes. I will literally never play this track again as I have no interest in it, but it’ll be a huge hit for sure.

R&B Fridays: Episode 115

Six tracks from six respected artists to enjoy this week, bringing together a little bit of soul, a little bit of pop and a little more R&B.

The same can be said with this week’s related posts, with a soulful jam delivered by UK upcomer Cherri Prince, fellow Brit Emeli Sande collaborating with Wretch32 for a free single, a cinematic visual for The-Dream’s latest R&B slow jam, and finally a remix of Kreayshawn’s popular Gucci Gucci.

R&B Fridays: Episode 113

Another very diverse episode this week, with some mainstream folk sitting alongside a couple of old-school favourites to provide a little bit of everything.

Three interesting tracks to recap on from the week just gone, with Aloe Blacc releasing some new visuals, a brand new mixtape from upcoming UK soul singer Daley, and a new video from his fellow Brit, Cleo Sol.

R&B Fridays: Episode 106

Some really interesting remixes this week, with the works of R&B poster boys Drake and Frank Ocean undergoing treatment from their peers. Of course, there’s a sprinkling of original material too with a range of styles represented.

A fair bit to recap on from the week gone by: a James Blake and Drake mashup mixtape, a very enjoyable R&B throwback from will.i.am, strong slow jam from Lloyd’s upcoming album, brand new material from Drake, and for some reason a video for Enrique, Usher and Lil’ Wayne’s collab and Britney’s latest single. R&B Fridays: Episode 98

I’ve turned up late to the party once again, so I’m not going to mess you around with a long intro here. That’s helped by only having one relevant and noteworthy post from the week gone by, that being Erin Christine’s latest single.

R&B Fridays: Episode 95

5 weeks away from the 100th episode, and the ‘new format’ rolls on with another easy-to-digest and concise edition. Not too much to catch up on in terms of different posts, but I’m sure anyone with even a sprinkling of good taste will be interested in grabbing 64 Frank Ocean tracks.

An interesting blend of mainstream stuff and more refined soul-oriented material this week, as well as chucking in the now customary throwback R&B track of the week. Click below to be happy.

Quickblast: David Guetta - Nothing Else Matters

Quality track here by David Guetta, although a little short, featuring the vocals of Katie Ann-Marie, this song will have you wanting dance the night away.

Kelly Rowland-Commander Video

The relaunch of the Rowland continues with the visuals for her David Guetta-assisted single. Not had the chance to check this one out, but I’m sure it will be nothing beyond the usual club/party-style video. Works for most, not for me.

R&B Fridays: Episode 52

18 tracks from 18 artists this week, with a bunch of the biggest names in R&B/pop/soul making the cut.

As per recent routines, I’d recommend checking over the R&B posts from the week gone by: Dirty Money want your love, Trey Songz is already taken, Lloyd has dropped 3 guest features this week, and Ciara recruited Andre 3000 for a Ride remix.

David Guetta & Friends-Gettin' Over You Video

Some more new David Guetta for you, here’s the official video for Gettin’ Over You, featuring Fergie, Chris Willis & LMFAO. Chris Willis in particular impresses me on this, such a powerful voice.

David Guetta really needs to slow down a bit, at this rate he’ll be dominating the clubs with his music! You can download this track below too, if you haven’t already got this.

David Guetta & Akon

Brand new song by these two collaborative monsters. You should know exactly what sort of song this will be, a nice little club hit. Not quite as uplifting as their smash single, Sexy Bitch, but this is a track I like more and certainly one that will be dominating my ears for the next few weeks. Let it dominate your ears too by clicking the temptatious (definitely just made that word up) red text below.

K'naan, David Guetta and will.i.am-Wavin' Flag Video

As much as I love this track, I’m both too tired and too busy to have watched this video yet. The song is amazing though, so I definitely will do so soon.

Edited with thoughts: Really good video. Fits the song really well by not going for too much, and letting the track do the work. Nice variety of scenes, with some warming parts shot in Africa (not sure where?) accompanied by some decent live footage.

Must voice my appreciation for K’naan’s range of hats. Boy, that guy has a lot of hats.

Fly Gypsy-FG*XL:remixtape Review and Download

As you well know by now, I don’t write album/mixtape reviews or feature articles unless it’s something very worthwhile. It’s a lot of time and dedication for me, so you know there’s a damn good reason behind it right? Right.

OTU followers will be familiar with this duo (and all you newcomers need to get educated, fast). We’ve followed them for quite some time, and they’ve really stepped their game up in the last 2/3 months with this remix project. If you’ve missed any of the utterly awesome remixes they’ve put out, click on to find the links for recapping.

Anywho, it’s time to unleash the entire project. 18 tracks of fantastic music from an unbelievable (you’ll agree, trust me!) range of genres that will cement these guys as ones to watch for 2010. If you don’t have time for the review, you can download the mixtape here. If you do, click on.

Kelis-Acapella Video

Moving images for Kelis’ newest single. Haven’t watched this yet, but I didn’t mind the audio when it dropped way back when (swackers, head here to grab it), so I expect I’ll give it a look over eventually.

Insert Nas/Kelis divorce joke here.

R&B Fridays: Episode 38

I had 40 potential tracks this week. 40. That’s a big number. I barely have the time for a regular episode, let alone a 40-deep one, and it’s actually really hard to pick a set out of them. I’ve picked what seemed to be the strongest/potentially most popular 20, and I’ll try to post the rest up in a few days.

Click on for 5 helpings of new Usher, a couple of features from The-Dream and many more huge names.

EDIT:  I uploaded the wrong artwork for the tracks, and they have pictures of The-Dream as the album art. My bad, but I’m not re-uploading everything again. It could be worse :)

Estelle and Kardinal Offishall-Freak Video

Visuals are released for Estelle’s David Guetta-produced club track/latest single from her upcoming album. Audio can be swiped from here if you didn’t grab it first time out last week.

Estelle and Kardinal Offishall Collab

Bit of a change in direction for Estelle. Pretty dancey track, with some dub elements in the production too. Produced by David Guetta, so there’s no secret that this one is aimed at the clubs.

It might grow on me eventually, but I was a fan of her more soulful stuff so I’m not completely sold on this yet. However, I completely expect this to be a pretty massive track as it’s exactly the sound the mainstream is looking for right now, so it’s one worth grabbing if you’re that way inclined.

David Guetta and Kid Cudi-Memories Video

And it don’t stop. Another contender for best party jam of ’09, and definitely Guetta’s best track. Way, way better than Sexy B*tch.

So yeah, I love this track. The video is a bit plain, but that’s alright as it’s difficult to really break the mould for these sort of tracks. Does a job though, and as with the below video makes me want to spin the track again.

Swack the audio here.

R&B Fridays: Episode 33

Similar to last week’s episode, this one contains a nice blend of big names, up-and-comers and some that we (I) haven’t heard from in a while.

We’ve dropped some R&B-related goodies throughout the week too, be sure to scroll down a couple of posts and check out the video for Usher’s lead single from Raymond vs. Raymond. When you’ve done that, scroll back up and enter the R&B room.
