Apathy ft. Celph Titled-What Ya Doing (Prod. DJ Premier)

Oh God. I think a little bit of wee just came out. What a day for hip-hop. So, this was always going to be the headline track from Ap’s upcoming Honkey Kong LP (August 23rd) and boy it doesn’t half deliver. Premo drops an old-school flavoured beat which sounds lifted from Gang Starr’s classic 1991 Step In The Arena. Apathy proves why he’s one of the hottest underground spitters out right now, and hearing Celph over old-school boom-bap brings me right back to last year’s superb Nineteen Ninety Now with Buckwild. Oh and apparently Apathy mixed the record which is the first time Premo has ever let an artist do that. How’s that for a co-sign.

Celph Titled, Buckwild, FT & Rugged Man-Mad Ammo Video

As expected from anything with Rugged Man in, here we’ve got some crazy visuals from Celph/Buckwild’s Nineteen Ninety Now.

Interesting way to do the video, with mini-interviews from all parties separating each verse from the track.

Audio here.

Celph Titled/Buckwild - Miss Those Days

One of my favourites from Celph Titled and Buckwild’s brilliant collaboration Nineteen Ninety Now.

“RZA rocking all the beats/SEGA with the Altered Beast/wasn’t safe to walk the streets with Jordan sneakers on ya feet!”

Celph Titled & Buckwild-Nineteen Ninety Now [Album Review]

While the foundations of Nineteen Ninety Now sit firmly in their self-titled era, the freshness of Celph Titled and Buckwild’s innovation manage to deliver a 2010 gem to be savoured by old-school and underground heads alike.

Raekwon really has started something. It now seems as if everyone wants to rekindle Golden Age hip-hop again. And who am I to complain? The success of Rae’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, has seen industry vets such as Capone-N-Noreaga release the sequel to their critically acclaimed The War Report, AZ is soon to drop Doe Or Die 2 and even Snoop aims to go for the jugular after recently (and worryingly) announcing Doggystyle 2.

7L & Esoteric - No Shots

If you like hip-hop, you really should be familiar with the underground duo of producer 7L and Army Of The Pharaohs’ MC, Esoteric.

First leak from their album 1212 which drops October 12th. Here Esoteric spits some rhymes on his thoughts of the current industry over 7L’s Rihanna-sampling instrumentals.

1212 boasts features from the likes of Ill Bill, Alchemist, Evidence, Inspectah Deck, Sadat X, Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled, Statik Selektah and OTU favourite Reef The Lost Cauze.

Hopefully getting an advance copy of this to review for you all. Can’t wait to hear those 90′s Buckwild beats! As a huge Rugged Man and O.C. fan, really looking forward to hearing those two joints in particular.

Nineteen Ninety Now will be released on October 26th.

Celph Titled & Buckwild 'Nineteen Ninety Now'

Hopefully going to see lots of promotional material for this over the upcoming months because it’s something I’m naturally excited in.

On the upcoming collaborative effort between the two, Nineteen Ninety Now enabled Celph uninhibited access to Buckwild’s original mid-90’s production, where he was able to select and record to over 16 unreleased D.I.T.C. bangers; bringing his charismatic flow and lyrical prowess to each one.

Guest appearances from D.I.T.C, Treach, Vinnie Paz, Brand Nubian, R.A. The Rugged Man, Chino XL, Demigodz and more will see this project rest favourably amongst the underground and old-school heads. Drops October 26th!

Quick Blasts: New Game / Celph Titled

As you can probably tell from the image, we are running out of pictures of Game to use. No, unfortunately this isn’t a collaboration between heavyweight mainstream and heavyweight underground. But on the plus side it is two tracks instead of just one.

Game – Slangin’ Game (DJ)

From his upcoming mixtape. Laid back joint. Chorus is annoying. Will keep you Game fans occupied no doubt though. (Apologies for DJ verison, but it doesn’t anything away).

Celph Titled & Buckwild (feat Apathy & Chino XL) – Styles Ain’t Raw

Underground heaven? Almost. Chino steals the show, but it’s awesome seeing this kind of line up for the underground heads out there.

Murray’s Best of ’09

So I think we are all in agreement: 2009 has been quite a year for hip-hop. It has seen the return of Em, Jay has completed his Blueprint trilogy and 50 has had so much beef you would think he will be full up for Xmas (*cringes*. Yeah that was bad).

Aside from the big names dropping their albums, we have also seen some highly anticipated underground acts dropping LP’s too. This is my Best Of ’09 list and contains some real gems so don’t let the year go past before getting your hands on these.
