Twitter: A Hip-Hop Revolution

There are some things in life you come to expect. Your mum doing your washing, prolonged rain spells, Christmas on the 25th December, Raekwon sending out a tweet. Wait. What? Yes people, it would be strange for me to visit my Twitter and there be no daily/hourly/minutely (believe me, some do it *cough* Noreaga) tweet from at least one of the many hip-hop artists I happen to follow.

Since the 140 character micro-blogging phenomenon stormed the Internet in 2006, a wide range of celebrities have been using the social networking site with popular persons such as Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears amongst some of the first to join in the Twittermania. But it’s not only film and (one-time) pop stars who took to Twitter. MC Hammer held the hip-hop Twitter-torch for a while all on his own before others started to see the value that it brought in promoting their work and connecting with fans.

Capone-N-Noreaga - Hood Pride [Video]

CNN put out by far the best visuals yet for their recently released War Report 2; now putting the camera spotlight on their joint with Faith Evans.

It seems that the Queensbridge duo are more intent on getting their acting game across here than on the actual track itself! Nevertheless, a great starring role from Nore and even Joell Ortiz himself gets a silent cameo which he still manages to be funny in!

Audio for this here.

Capone-N-Noreaga - My Attribute [Video]

I’m predicting that The War Report 2 (out today) is going to do three or four times the numbers it would have done were it not for Rae’s evident insistence on some serious social media / viral marketing. I mean, I literally cannot turn on my Mac without seeing CNN somewhere. This isn’t a bad thing. It’s great to see someone still representing QB whilst P’s locked up and Nas is off on his little reggae jaunt.

Anyway, visuals for My Attribute which is a bit of a banger but perhaps not the strongest on the album.

Capone-N-Noreaga / Nas - With Me

Like Indi said about the Ricky Ross LP, this is probably the last leak we give you from CNN’s upcoming The War Report 2.

Arguably one of the most anticipated tracks from the album sees Nas teaming up with his fellow Queensbridge MC’s.

Interestingly, from what I’ve read elsewhere, people have said this collaboration feels somewhat forced and it almost sounds as if Nas emailed his verse rather than actually hooking up in the studio. Shame if true. See what you think.

Quick Blast: Capone-N-Noreaga

This track first appeared on CNN’s Camouflage Season mixtape which you can download for free here.

This morning, a version with executive producer Raekwon has surfaced so I’ve uploaded both versions for you to enjoy.

This is the kind of material which CNN and Rae are putting out recently which really restores my faith in old school hip-hop. They have even managed to get Fat Joey Crack spitting his Jealous Ones Envy steelo.

A Couple Of Hip-Hop Posse Cuts

Whenever I look for a random/pointless picture for a non-artist specific post, I always end up with cowboys. Maybe we should turn the site into a country music hub.

Anyway, in complete contrast to that, pick up two tracks below featuring 5 rappers on each. One is full of Eastside rappers, and the other with 5 from the West which makes for a nice bit of variety for you.

Hate Is The New Love: Mobb Deep vs 2Pac

If you missed the first episode of OTU’s newest feature, then take the time to revisit here.

Into this week’s business.

What many people don’t realise is that 2Pac and Biggie’s feud wasn’t just exclusive to them. Hip-hop’s most infamous rivalry spilled into studios with artists who had never even worked with the originators, feeling their dignity had been violated and now wanted their shit on record.

The beef started when Tha Dogg Pound’s New York, New York filtered over to the East Coast. Mobb Deep took offence and responded with Queensbridge counterparts Tragedy Khadafi and Capone-N-Noreaga on LA, LA. Although both tracks call out their opposite coasts to ‘come outta town’, at this point, things were still rather innocuous…

Brand Spankin' New: Capone-N-Noreaga

As the title says, this track has literally only just surfaced from Capone-N-Noreaga’s War Report 2. Now if you follow either of them or Raekwon on Twitter it is something which they are all very excited about and if you copped The War Report back in 1997 you will understand why.

CNN represent Queensbridge Projects to the fullest (former stomping ground to Nas, Mobb Deep and Cormega to name a few) and I’m expecting a return to form for the formidable duo after having a somewhat mixed last 13 years. Needless to say, the project is something which I am keeping close tabs on and will endeavour to keep you all posted. For now, make sure you cop this joint below to see the classic formula I’m on about. Warning: Serious gangsta hip-hop.
