R&B Fridays: Episode 132

After a brief hiatus due to the busy festive period, we’re back to open the new year with a brand new edition of the internet’s R&B cornerstone.

The Weeknd and Frank Ocean feature in the recap, with the former’s releasing his latest mixtape just under a fortnight ago, and the latter letting loose of a new track last week, whilst the impact of both on R&B has been discussed as part of our 2011′s defining moment’s list. Don’t miss out on Lloyd’s latest visuals either, for his excellent Be The One single, and after that you’re cleared to click below for this week’s episode.

R&B Fridays: Episode 93

Another short episode in terms of new tracks, but that’s the price we pay for me being forced (Murray’s been begging me) to deliver this on time. However, I’ve opted to use this ‘free space’ to throw in something a little different: I’ve included a couple of throwback tracks that you may be unfamiliar with, but are certainly worthy of attention. Would love to hear some feedback on them too, as I’d like to incorporate throwbacks more often!

This week’s recap is Chris Brown heavy, with a feature on both Keri Hilson’s latest video and Big Sean’s first video from his debut album, as well as a brand new video of his own from F.A.M.E. There’s also a new video from Lloyd, and a great track that didn’t make Frank Ocean’s brilliant mixtape.

Done? Good. Click below for R&B Fridays: The 93rd edition.

Bei Maejor-Upside Down 2 Mixtape

The sequel to Bei’s summer mixtape, Upside Down, has arrived somewhat unexpectedly, but certainly makes for a welcome surprise.

As I said earlier, most of the music world has stood still these last few days (which I assume is a result of Thanksgiving in the US yesterday), but R&B seems to have kept pouring material out. If it’s anything like his first mixtape, this should be a very diverse project from the upcoming singer-songwriter. Be sure to grab it below.

R&B Fridays: Episode 59

Busy, busy day to blame for the delay on this. That, and the fact I forgot I do these. Woops. Anywho, I’ve more than made up for it by throwing in some massive names this week, including  Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Johnta Austin and many more. Enough delaying, click below and get stuck into the good stuff.

Bei Maejor/Keri Hilson - Gamez

R&B Friday followers will know that Bei Maejor is a seriously good artist, what you may not know is that he’s also a pretty good producer too. This track features Keri Hilson and is off his upcoming mixtape, uʍop ǝpısdn, which he not only wrote all himself, but produced it all too.

Production on this has that classic video game samples, which are always good to hear (especially those who are 20+years old, who can reminisce on these sounds)! The mixtape should be available to download within the next few weeks so look out for that.

R&B Fridays: Episode 56 Part II - The Leftovers

Right, seeing as today has been pretty slow – I’ll let loose the tracks that didn’t make it in Friday’s jam-packed episode. I won’t bother putting much (any) analysis into these tracks, as most of them aren’t really my thing. By which I mean that a lot these songs are mostly of the slow type of R&B, which I’m sure a lot of you will like…loads. Click on for the goods.

R&B Fridays: Episode 55

With Ajay currently incarcerated in some grotty South African prison, your weekly R&B fix has been left with me to try and fill. Now I may not have anywhere near the amount of knowledge with this genre, I can however appreciate a good R&B song.

I’ve sorted through over 50 R&B songs over the last week and have narrowed it down to the best 24 and for that reason you shouldn’t at all be dissuaded from clicking on. We have some real gems for you, from the big names, to many a newcomer. Click that red text to find out whether I’m true to my word, or whether I’ve completely ballsed this feature up….(now that’s pressure!)

Ciara, Andre 3000 and Bei Maejor-Ride Remix

Two Andre verses in a week?! It’s like Christmas, my birthday, and every other rapper’s funeral rolled into one (quotable of the week?).

The beat has been retooled for this remix (which I’m going to claim is the official remix), and keeps you waiting for that 3 Stacks verse which tacks on right at the end. Good verse as ever, with that trademark speedy delivery. Hopefully the re-emergence of Andre means his solo album is in the pipeline!
