I’m in a hurry to catch up with all the stuff I was meant to post yesterday, so forgive me for not watching this yet. I’m told the video is comprised of footage from their recent tour, and is shot in monochrome.

Tuesday Indie Throwback-Arcade Fire

This week’s throwback is one drenched in anticipation, with the release of the Montreal septet’s third album The Suburbs looming.

From the release of their first EP back in 2003 the genre-bending Arcade Fire have had me hooked on their style, and what better time to have a look back to where it all started, with the hype beginning to build for their upcoming work…

Review: May Alternative Tracklist

June is finally here and the weather has been strangely nice for the British summertime. However, before we get too carried away with what the exciting months ahead hold, come and take a quick look back over my pick of the best Alternative tracks to come out in May.

It was a pretty big month for Indie/Electro music, with new tracks from Portishead, Chemical Brothers and Crystal Castles, as well as new material from Arcade Fire finally hitting our ears! There have also been plenty of tracks from many a new band on the block, so you’d be daft not to check this out……

The Wait Is Finally Over....

Thats right people, as of today you can set your ears on the new EP from montreal group Arcade Fire, and there’s no sign of a drop in form either, with both tracks more than living up to their hype…

The first single, a double sided 12” EP containing tracks The Suburbs and Month of May is available for download now from the bands site, with the full album The Suburbs available for pre-order pending its release on the 2nd of August.

The tracks are polar opposites in pace; The Suburbs takes a stroll around a beautiful yet ominous vista created by the anxious vocals and angsty riffs of the track, while Month Of May’s pounding, punk-esque sound accompanied by Win Butler’s driven vocals make for intense and visceral listening. Download the EP now from the bands site….

Arcade Fire Release Album Teaser

It’s now well known in the Indie music world that ‘Baroque-pop, Montreal seven-some’ Arcade Fire are planning the release of their as yet un-named third album in the near future; with most movements indicating an early June release. In light of which, a veritably teasing audio sample from their upcoming single Suburbs has been released onto the bands site.

Check this out the ‘spin it yourself vinyl’, it contains but one riff from the track, but seriously whets the appetite for their latest work, it also produces some interesting results when spinning the track backwards…..

Arcade Fire Announce New Record!

As an ardent fan of their work, it seems like ages since Neon Bible; the most recent Arcade Fire album, was released- and although only back in 2007, its seems like almost too long since we have heard anything new from them.

Now however, the wait is almost over as the Montreal band are said to have completed work on their latest record, said to be set for release in the late summertime. News which is likely to send ripples of excitement amongst fans of their, organic, sinister, Baroque-pop style.

The band has also confirmed that they will peform much of their new material during their headlining performance at both Leeds and Reading festivals in August 2010. Will Butler, member of the band and brother of lead vocalist Win, spoke of his excitement of the prospect of performing the new tracks live: “We’re really looking forward to playing the new songs live, like an inventor emerging from his basement after a year’s work.” If you’re not familiar with the work of Arcade Fire and wondering what the hype is about, click here.

This upcoming record joins the list of much anticipated indie albums coming out this summer.
