Wordsworth – Joy & Pain (Produced by Apollo Brown)

Wordsworth has a new album coming called The Photo Album with June 12th the date. This is the lead single from said project and Wordsworth hasn’t missed a trick here, enlisting upcoming beat-maker Apollo Brown to deliver the goods on the boards. And as always, he delivers. Brown allows Wordsworth to take centre stage, sliding his smooth flow effortlessly over the crisp, feel-good backdrop. Will definitely be keeping my eye out for the LP on the strength of this.

Apollo Brown and O.C. – Prove Me Wrong

Apollo Brown is one of the hottest behind the boards right now. His heavily slept on project with Hassaan Mackey was one of my favourite pieces of work from 2011. Now Apollo is hooking up with one of my favourite emcees, O.C, for a full length effort entitled Trophies dropping May 1st.

This first single contains all the aforementioned ingredients which make these two great collaborators. Brown brings the atmospheric, thought-provoking backdrop, whilst O.C. drops the wisdom us D.I.T.C. fans know him for. Let’s see if they can keep it together for a full LP.

Hassaan Mackey and Apollo Brown ft. Finale-Higher

The brilliant thing about being part of a community like OTU is that we all share a common passion: hip-hop. On Ajay’s recommendation, I’ve been in love with the “instrumental bliss” which is Apollo Brown’s Clouds LP. Then, I discover his recently released project with Hassaan Mackey, Daily Bread, which sees Hassaan going in over some of these splendid instrumentals that I thought were destined to be untouched. Apollo is probably my favourite upcoming producer right now and you should definitely get the excellent album here. Taster below.

Wonderful Weekend Wonders

<— Kool G Rap holding a bullet in his teeth. Why not?

I’m going away this weekend to the city they named the big apple after (after Amsterdam sold it to the UK). So, with beer in hand, I’ll leave you with a few drops from over the past few days for you to enjoy in my absence. I’ve obviously got a joint with G Rap on, I’ve got some new Reks from his upcoming mixtape, some new Joell Ortiz (standard) and a revamped version of an AZ classic.

Hit the jump for the links and a bit of pre-match analysis.

Underground Hip-Hop Part 11

Whilst Ajay’s away I’ve been tasked with holding down his UGHH Collections for a while.

He’s left me some material he wanted to get in there and I’ve added to this with some bits and pieces, both new and old, so you can keep your ears to the very best of the underground scene.
