Chipmunk-In The Air ft. Keri Hilson [Video]

As I mentioned earlier this month, Chipmunk has been working with Keri Hilson! Another extremely good look for him and no matter your opinion on him, he is doing pretty unprecedented stuff at the moment. I just hope this opens doors for other UK artists.

Visuals are nothing to shout about and is rather forgettable to be honest. The song itself is another good effort from Chipmunk, with it actually being a better lyrical effort from him than he gave us with Champion. Keri Hilson gives us a classic Keri hook, and looks good doing it, not quite as re-playable as the Chris Brown collabo though.

Audio is available on iTunes now, with his new album being released 18th of April.

Chipmunk-Moment For Life Remix [Video]

I’m still massively on the fence with regards to Chipmunk. On the one hand I can see why many people hate on him/his music, but on the other hand he’s undeniably killing it at the moment, both here and (well starting to) in the States. The success and the hate are probably a result of him moving towards hip hop and away from the grime sound. If it’s working for him, who are we to criticise? Even Keri Hilson is doing songs and tweeting with him these days!

On to this song itself, quite an apt one for him to go in on, given that he’s reached a platform higher than most UK urban artists could dream of. With some good lines; Chipmunk is fast becoming one of the more skilled punchline rappers out there.

This song and video gets the thumbs up from me, but I’m sure a fair few of you will disagree with my sentiments above.

Chipmunk-Champion Remix ft. Chris Brown & J. Cole

I’m still not bored of the original to this, so I’m glad we’ve got a remix. Good look for Chip too, enlisting one of the brightest prospects in US hip hop in J. Cole to add a verse to an already great track.

Premièred on Westwood’s show recently; you can listen to it by checking the video to the left.

The original has finally been made available on iTunes, so go buy it now for just 99p by clicking here, (the one we posted on the site wasn’t the finished version and is missing the Chris Brown verse).

Faith SFX-All From The Mouth Mixtape Vol 1

To celebrate the launch of his new website www.faithsfx.tv, Faith drops a free download mixtape titled ‘All From The Mouth’ to build anticpation for his full length release ‘Man Or Machine’ which will be released later in the year. ‘All From The Mouth’ features artists such as Chipmunk, Lowkey, Dot Rotten and Don Strapzy

FaithSFX first emerged on the UK Urban music scene in 2006, where his extraordinary beatboxing skills have seen him much in demand appearing at large clubs and touring. He has produced tracks for many artists from the UK underground scene, and his production is known for using only his own vocal effects and beatboxing sounds. More recently, Faith has been touring with Plan B, winning over new audiences including Sir Elton John and Paloma Faith. 2011 sees the release of his debut album ‘Man or Machine’.

Sounds like a very interesting project, with some esteemed names here in the grime scene on collaboration duty. Certainly one I will be checking out, you can click right here to get hold of the mixtape and click on below to see some tracklisting in full.

Skepta-Big ft. Chipmunk

Taken from Skepta’s upcoming album, Doin’ It Again, (which is out at the end of the month) Skepta and Chipmunk give us the lowdown on the negatives of fame. Everything about this track is great, from the beat, the hook, the flow and lyrics from both artists.

It must be said that Skepta’s album is looking like a must buy right now. Shouts to London To MK for this one – download link below.

Griminal-Supa Dupa Remix ft. Chipmunk, Ghetts, Nasty, Krept, Wretch 32 & Baby Blue

This premièred on Westwood earlier today with Griminal enlisting a strong line up to take on his recent single, which is one I enjoyed a lot. The talented artist signed to Universal a few months back, so we should hopefully be seeing more and more from him over the next year, as he prepares us a new album.

As I’ve stated before, I’m not too big on Chipmunk, but I’m pleased that he’s not gone too far in what seemed to be a complete transition away from grime to hip hop, it’s good to see him still feature and collaborate with his peers here in this industry. He opens up the song with a very likeable verse too. Baby Blue is probably one of the few female emcees in this country I have time for and she holds her own on this, which is pretty impressive as both Ghetts & Wretch 32 bring to the table of what we expect from the high standards they have set over the last few years.

Given the recent spate of quality UK grime and hip hop that’s flooded the airwaves over the past year – I haven’t been this excited about the UK scene since Kano released Home Sweet Home several years ago.

Chipmunk-Champion ft. Chris Brown [Video]

A few things to get through on this lovely Boxing Day, and what better way to start with than the official video for Chipmunk’s big collaboration with Chris Brown!

The audio for this leaked just over a month ago and it’s testament to how good this track is that it still finds it’s way in my various playlists. The hook on this is really something epic and it’s supplemented with some very well done visuals, it should be a big hit in the US as well as here in the UK.

As Chris Brown stated when the actual audio did leak, he has a verse on this too in the final version, which you’ll be able to get hold from the iTunes store when the single is released.

Can’t wait for that? Well go on and grab the audio we posted back then by clicking here.

Lethal B-Pow 2011 ft. JME, Wiley, Chipmunk, 2-Face, P Money, Ghetts & Kano [Video]

Finally we get the official video to the 2011 version of a grime classic! This track seems to have run of steam as of late, which is why it was a little frustrating waiting for them to get this video out there, but maybe the buzz will build up again now.

As you can see from the behind the scenes video (click here), all these guys had a lot of fun filming this and it’s great to see the genuine rapport they have. One disappointment was that Wiley didn’t come through and make an appearance for whatever reason (I’m going to assume time constraints!). Each artist has their own little role in the video and it’s certainly a vid that enhances the song (which some people were originally underwhelmed with).

Enough talking, go watch the visuals to the left of this post, and if you like what you hear go grab the audio from clicking on this glorious bit of red text.

Behind The Scenes: Chipmunk and Chris Brown’s Champion Video

Looks like a lot of work is going into this one, and rightly so: Chris Brown’s hook on this almost guarantees it’s going to be a huge hit over here, and a good visual to accompany it could certainly give it the edge it needs to get Chipmunk over in the US.

Wortha w atch if you’re a fan of the track, and there’s talk this video should be dropping before Christmas. For the audio, you want to be clicking here.

Chipmunk-Champion ft. Chris Brown

Your eyes are not deceiving you. Yes, that’s right Chipmunk, a UK rapper. Despite success on the mainstream scene, he’s got many, many critics (including myself), but has now managed to collaborate with one of America’s biggest R&B stars.

His recent appearances on Pow 2011, Tinchy’s posse cut Game Over, and his latest single have all been very good and have slowly worked to change my opinion of him. This is another track where I can’t hate on the guy: he isn’t Grime, but he doesn’t pretend to be.

A very good effort here, one that’s bound to be a big mainstream hit, as well as one that Chris Brown fans will love as he brings his A-game for the hook. Can see this getting some airplay in the States, and added to the rumours floating about that a collabo with Drake, 2011 could be a very big year for this 19-year old.

Lethal B-Pow 2011 ft. JME, Wiley, Chipmunk, 2-Face, P Money, Ghetts & Kano

Another huge Grime track that dropped last week on the radio which also features a big line-up, with the likes of JME, Wiley, P-Money, Ghetts & Kano being highly rated here at OTU Towers.

The original Pow came out back in 2004 and was an instant classic in the genre. A fair few people have been disappointed with this new version of the track, which is understandable considering how epic the original was. There’s a lot of good quotables on this track though and is certainly one I am enjoying. Hell, I can even respect Chipmunk’s verse on this. Set to be released in December, (Christmas #1 anybody?) expect a video to drop soon. CDQ of this track available below.

Chipmunk–Flying High [Video]

New single from Chipmunk here, from his second album, Transition. I’m not a big fan of Chipmunk, but I’m really feeling this track. Something very addictive about this beat, and the visuals aren’t too bad either, pretty interesting in fact.

Tinchy Stryder-Game Over Official Video ft. Giggs, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah, Devlin, Example & Chipmunk

Official video to one of the biggest tracks in Grime history (yeah I’m putting it out there). I do feel at times that there’s too much dissing going on in the UK scene, I appreciate the competitive side of the genre and that it was a genre born from battling, but seeing the biggest MCs collaborate like they have on this track is just superb to see.

Nothing flashy about the video, but it’s pretty good, keeps the focus on each MC which highlights each of their unique lyrical ability and flow on the mic.

Best verse for me would have to go to Devlin, there’s nobody spitting like him over on these shores. Audio can be attained from here.
