Akala-Fire In The Booth

Akala goes in for 8 minutes straight on the Charlie Sloth show on BBC 1Xtra. Those of you who aware of Akala, he’s a very ‘conscious rapper’, so you can press play and expect to learn something!

As a friend of mine mentioned to me earlier, listening to Akala makes you want to pick up a book. His Twitter is pretty interesting at times too.

Akala-Find No Enemy [Video]

One of my favourite tracks from Akala’s DoubleThink album gets the visual treatment.

The song itself is a typically socially conscious one by the very intelligent Akala, as he takes us through his thoughts on what’s gone on with the world in the past, where it’s at right now and to where we’re heading.

No hook on this, just Akala rapping all the way through the acoustic production along with a tinge of electric guitar to distinguish the tone of the song. The subtleties of the production helps amplify the lyrical content; with visuals that really supplement Akala’s subject matter.

Side note: I would kill to hear Akala on a track with Nas.

Interview With Akala [Video]

Very interesting interview here conducted by Flavour Magazine with Akala. Akala has always come across very well in interviews, he’s a very deep and intelligent individual.

Just watch and appreciate his thought process.

UK Blast: Lowkey / Akala / Black The Ripper

Three of the UK’s hottest spitters come together to redo Lowkey’s popular track from his 2009 debut Dear Listener.

If you’re not a fan of the grime I’ve been posting recently (or even if you are) then take the time to check this out because it gives you a much differing angle on the UK scene.
