Weezer Cover Toni Braxton’s Unbreak My Heart

Didn’t expect this today/ever. Asher Roth’s favourite lady, Toni Braxton, gets her biggest hit revamped by Weezer, and they do a decent job with the classic track.

There’s no way they were ever going to match the emotion, atmosphere and vocal ability found on the original but as far as alternative covers go this is a good effort. I’m especially liking the intricate work they’ve put in with the guitars, as they avoid the obvious idea of just strumming the basic chords and instead inject some flair and creativity, particularly towards the end of the track. Worth a listen.

Weezer-Memories Video, Featuring The Jackass Crew

I brought you the behind-the-scenes cut of this video a little while back, and I’ve since been itching for this video to be released.

Really good one too, and will give you a huge injection of that summer vibe whilst throwing many laughs your way. The Jackass boys are in great form, and I’m not sure if the stunts in this are for the upcoming movie or just for the video, but they’re hilarious either way!

One of those songs that you’ll forever associate with this video, largely down to the feel-good nature of the whole thing.

Behind The Scenes: Weezer and Jackass

This should be a nice combination of awesome and hilarious. Weezer have grabbed the cast and crew of Jackass for their latest video, Memories. Looking forward to the full video!

Weezer's Album Art for Hurley

I’m not even joking, and I will probably buy this even though I don’t really listen to Weezer. That genuinely is the album cover for their next album!

From frontman Rivers Cuomo: “I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn’t really have anything to do with anything. I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia — it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.”

The last sentence also happens to fully represent my feelings toward this artwork.

Weezer-Represent, An Unofficial U.S. World Cup Anthem

First, We Are Scientists dedicated a song to the English football team, and now Weezer release one of their own in support of the US side. Apparently, lead singer Rivers Cuomo is a big football (…or soccer) fan, so I suppose this makes sense.

This was actually released for free on iTunes USA, but costs for every other country-sort of makes sense, but its also annoying, so go ahead and grab it for free below.

Weezer Cover The Monkees' I'm A Believer

Kicking off your day with something nice and upbeat! Absolutely everybody knows the original. You had to click the link to find out didn’t you? 2 or 3 seconds in, and you must have felt such a fool. You idiot.

Weezer add a new-school/punk feel to the timeless track, and this is set to be the lead song from the upcoming Shrek 4 Official Soundtrack. They still keep some retro elements intact in the production which is good, making for a nice tribute to the original whilst remaining accessible to today’s younger mass audience. Could end up being one of those unexpectedly popular songs this summer.

Weezer and Lil’ Wayne

Weezer
Here’s a track that was announced a few months back. Lyrically, it’s fairly mundane and sounds like any old R&B/Hip-Hop track, but is generally easy to listen to. Wayne’s guest verse is better than some of his other recent efforts, and it’s a pretty cool party jam which will sit well with a mainstream audience. It’s not quite as good as the Fallout Boy/Wayne collab, but decent nonetheless. Fans of all genres should probably check this out, just to say you did.

Brand new track sent directly from The Five One for you after the click. Another great track, and another example of just how to throw a load of different genres into a pot and make it work.

In what has been a fairly slow week for good new music, I’m glad to say The Five One have come through and given me a great track for the rest of the weekend!
