Quietdrive are back with a new single, in preparation of their upcoming self-titled 4th album. Tempest and myself are pretty big fans of these guys, and to date they’ve not disappointed with any of their projects. Based on this single, they’re onto another winner as their very ‘complete’ sound is in full effect.
Quietdrive’s music has always contained great hooks, but also boasts great instrumentation and worthwhile verses, which can’t be said about a huge chunk of the pop-punk/alternative genre. There’s no change here, and they’ve matured once again with a much more settled and consistent sound throughout: arguably, in the past they’ve tried to incorporate a little too much production/instrumental-wise. Nice piece of alternative rock, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the album (due out 14th December I believe).

In what can best be described as a fitting coincidence given the retrospective nature of this particular post, 2009 was very much a year of hindsight. I rediscovered artists I’d neglected, I discovered artists who I’d simply ignored, but most importantly I began to see the fundamental flaw in my appreciation of music (especially hip-hop) and how I probably got it wrong.
Don’t make the same mistakes. Click on to grab some unmissable tracks, and of course my discoveries from the year gone by. I’ve thrown in a couple of lists too, as I know some of you can’t deal with excess reading.

Here goes another review. This time I take Quietdrive’s new EP for a spin, which will actually be the first rock/alternative review we’ve had since re-launching as a .com.
I’ve had a whirlwind romance with Quietdrive, having been introduced to them a little over a year ago. At the time, I was fully back into hip-hop, so for these guys to pull me back towards alternative music was a testament to the quality of their music. Alternative heads will be clicking on I’m sure, but I recommend that urban music followers give this a read too. Isn’t that the whole point of this site?

As many of you know, I’m pretty big on Quietdrive. If you’re unfamiliar, get familiar with the review of their second album that I posted up in the old house. They’re back with new material and are working on a new EP.
From what I’ve heard, it’s got similarities to Deliverance but much like the step between the first and second album, they’ve progressed once more musically. However, make your own judgements and click below to stream two new songs and a video, as well as downloading them for FREE. Fans of a lot of genres will enjoy this content, so go ahead and try something new. Now.
