Japanese Cartoon-Heirplanes Video

I like this track an awful lot, and whilst I haven’t got around to listening to the full album yet, if it’s anywhere near as good as this we’re all in for a good time.

When I first heard it all those months ago, it felt like a fairly upbeat track, but the video flips that on its head and gives us an eerie, dark, horror-esque video that really adds some layers to the all-round offering.

There’s an occult sort of theme here, which you could take in a million different directions when tied with the audio-for me, the parallels with films such as 28 Days Later, minus the zombies, give it a feeling of almost hopelessness in the fight for individuality. Lupe also seems to really fit this alternative side perfectly, with his mannerisms, charisma and general style coming off superbly in this new lane.

Audio/the whole album is available for nothing here.

Fashion: Japanese Cartoon x False T-Shirts/Sweatshirts

Lupe Fiasco’s side-project Japanese Cartoon have hooked up with False to develop a collaborative line of t-shirts and sweatshirts. They come with black/white/grey contrasts sketchy, that make them very versatile pieces, and similarly come with fairly simple, sketchy motifs that enhance that adaptability.

A surprisingly likeable and affordable range, click here to view images of the entire 5-piece range, as well as make your purchases!

Japanese Cartoon-In The Jaws Of The Lords Of Death

Most Lupe fans will know of Japanese Cartoon, his rock/alt side-project started in 2009. After denying he was a part of it for ages, he finally admitted it and went on to release an album for free in mid-July. I had no idea that this project was still going on and hence haven’t covered them on OTU up until this point, but I’m looking forward to it as some of the tracks were pretty good and I could do with some new Lupe material.
