R&B Fridays: Episode 102

On we roll with the institution of institutions, and it’s probably fair to say that the highlight of this week’s R&B has already been posted: having finally got around to listening to The Weeknd’s debut project I was incredibly impressed by it, and would wholeheartedly recommend you R&B Friday fans checked it out.

In addition to that, the past week saw visuals for the latest T-Pain and Chris Brown collab, Frank Ocean dropped off some enjoyable visuals for one of his lesser-known tracks, and finally a big collaboration between Lloyd, Trey Songz and Young Jeezy.

Big Boi, Andre 3000 and Sleepy Brown-Lookin’ For Ya

I’ve been pretty on-the-ball this evening for music, so forgive me for completely forgetting I had this one sitting around! According to Big Boi’s Twitter, there’s a label problem and they won’t let Andre 3000 appear on this album-utterly, utterly ridiculous! Hence, this track may or may not end up on the album. It would be a massive shame if it didn’t, as it’s a very good one.

The percussion is uptempo and complimented brilliantly by some pretty relaxed production elements throughout. It’s awesome to hear from 3 Stacks again, and as ever he does a fantastic job with his verse. Big Boi does precisely the same, and with Sleepy delivering a great mellow chorus, this is without question my favourite track from (or cut from) this album so far. Unmissable music, absolutely fantastic stuff.
