Surely a song set to dominate the summer, Calvin drops off his latest club stomper in preparation for his upcoming album. I wasn’t overly keen on Awooga, as it was just a little uninteresting on the whole, but this track certainly has a lot more going for it.
Harris serves up a very diverse and dynamic production, with a mellowed series of synth hits alongside midtempo percussion working nicely for the verses, and building to a big, explosive hook that typifies Calvin’s mainstream singles. It’s certainly a lot more electro/house influenced than some of his more pop-oriented work, a vibe helped by Kelis’ relatively relaxed yet uplifting vocal work. Pleased to see he hasn’t tried to marry a famous feature with a pop-dance beat, Gueeta style!
Video is actually quite enjoyable too, following a general miscreant/degenerate/rebel around as he causes a bit of havoc, and seems to just be having a bit of free-spirited fun. An easy watch, and certain to be a big single for Calvin.

With Ajay currently incarcerated in some grotty South African prison, your weekly R&B fix has been left with me to try and fill. Now I may not have anywhere near the amount of knowledge with this genre, I can however appreciate a good R&B song.
I’ve sorted through over 50 R&B songs over the last week and have narrowed it down to the best 24 and for that reason you shouldn’t at all be dissuaded from clicking on. We have some real gems for you, from the big names, to many a newcomer. Click that red text to find out whether I’m true to my word, or whether I’ve completely ballsed this feature up….(now that’s pressure!)

Kelis comes through with another dance type track, (courtesy of Benny Benassi) with Black Eyed Peas rapper, apl.de.ap, also featuring. All in all this has all the right ingredients to become a big hit, with yourselves and the mainstream media.

Visuals for Kelis’ dancefloor single, which I said before is a pretty decent track. The video matches the audio well, and it definitely matches my expectations for the track.
Audio is here.

Some very good music from new upcomers in this episode, and I expect you’ll definitely find a new artist to latch onto in here. Some stuff from R&B Fridays favourites such as Bruno Mars too of course, and plenty of it with a total of 21 tracks making the final cut for this episode.
Click on for that weekly R&B fix you’ve been begging for. Don’t pretend like you weren’t.

Sorry for the delay guys, as you know we were hacked on Friday night so I couldn’t get this out.
A nice even 20 tracks of new stuff for you this week, and lots of variety in there too in terms of styles and artists. Probably leaning more towards well-known artists this week, although there are still a couple of newbies for you to start getting into.
The quality is really high in this one, so be sure to give most/all of it a go. I’ve kindly weeded out most of the rubbish stuff, irrespective of artist calibre: I’m feeling ruthless! (Grr, roar etc)

Moving images for Kelis’ newest single. Haven’t watched this yet, but I didn’t mind the audio when it dropped way back when (swackers, head here to grab it), so I expect I’ll give it a look over eventually.
Insert Nas/Kelis divorce joke here.

Similar to last week’s episode, this one contains a nice blend of big names, up-and-comers and some that we (I) haven’t heard from in a while.
We’ve dropped some R&B-related goodies throughout the week too, be sure to scroll down a couple of posts and check out the video for Usher’s lead single from Raymond vs. Raymond. When you’ve done that, scroll back up and enter the R&B room.

My bad, things got a bit out of schedule yesterday and I didn’t get time to put this up. Ah well, it’s here now. Usher and R. Kelly headline this episode, and with Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys, Jason Derulo and more following up, you know this a good episode. Big names and big tracks after the click.
