To me, any time between midnight and 4am counts as the ‘night before’, so by my reckoning this is still a Friday night and hence on time. Don’t question it, just embrace it.
Short recap this week, with just the three noteworthy and relevant posts from the R&B/pop world: Tinie Tempah and Ellie Goulding’s collaboration got some visuals, a pretty interesting electro remix of Diddy-Dirty Money’s I Hate That You Love Me was liberated, and finally Musiq Soulchild came through with one of the better tracks of January, with his first single from his upcoming sixth album.
Formalities are now dealt with, commence your clicking as of right…now.

To me, the early hours of ‘Saturday’ count as Friday, so welcome to the first on-time R&B Friday in a few weeks!
Not a great deal to recap on this week, with the only notables being another official remix to Lloyd’s Lay It Down, and an all-British collaboration from Alesha Dixon and Jay Sean. However, it’s more than made up for with this week’s episode: with almost 20 tracks from the likes of Trey Songz, Pitbull and many more, there’s lots to enjoy and keep you going until next week.

Once again, it’s not quite a Friday. However, with the busy Christmas/New Year period over, hopefully these will be back on regular schedule from next week!
The past week has seen some pretty interesting R&B/pop pieces: Duck Sauce came through with a great remix of Chromeo and Elly Jackson’s single, the well-respected Jackie Boyz dropped off a mixtape, Marsha Ambrosius delivered an incredibly thoughtful video, Eminem remixed Dirty Money’s Hello, Good Morning, and we were also treated to two more Dirty Money remixes. Click below for this week’s instalment.

Whilst the rest of the music world seems to have taken a much-needed breather this week (album releases aside), there’s been no shortage of new and/or unreleased R&B and pop material in the 76th instalment of R&B Fridays.
The week has already seen a great new video from Tank, two new remixes from T-Pain, a captivating video for Bruno Mars’ Grenade, the UK’s own Chipmunk working with Chris Brown, another release from Trey Songz’s upcoming mixtape, Keri Hilson and Kanye West getting together for a new remix, Keyshia Cole and Nicki Minaj’s collabo video, and the unexpected release of a John Legend and Estelle EP.
Lots up there, and lots down below. Click on.

This track is supposedly from T.I.’s up and coming (I use that term very loosely, due to him serving another prison sentence) album No Mercy.
Here he links up with Jazmine Sullivan, unfortunately with no great effect. It’s another disappointing effort from Tip. I’m usually the first person to champion his work, but this just sounds weak . It’s not your typical Southern banger, the track has more of a reggae feel to it, which in fairness suits T.I.’s flow quite well. Jazmine’s vocals add nothing special to the song either (I’m not going to lie, had I not have known who was singing, I could’ve quite easily have mistaken her for a male vocalist). I’m sure it’ll still go down a treat with Tip’s mainstream fans though, so grab the audio

I’m sure you can forgive me for this being a couple of days late: having no laptop sort of makes things a little difficult! Hence, I’ll not keep you too long out here in the cold and away from the R&B.
Whilst I’m told the pre-episode recaps are going down well, in the interests of time you can take care of it yourself for this week by clicking the R&B category at the top of this page, which should fill you in appropriately. Click on for this week’s episode.

So Raekwon adds a verse to Miguel’s awesome track, then Rick Ross comes out with his own remix for it as well as doing a remix of Jazmine Sullivan’s Holding You Down. Raekwon has now come out with his version of Jazmine’s track. I think this has been a wasted opportunity, they could have clubbed together and did the remixes together rather than them both just having a short opening verse for each track. Anyway no more remixes of these tracks please, I’m done with them.

Lots of material in this episode, and plenty has already been released throughout the week.
To recap: Trey Songz’s latest visuals, Khalil’s debut visuals, the official single from the upcoming Foreign Exchange album, Cee-Lo’s anticipated F*** You video, a fantastic cover of Outkast’s Prototype, and finally a new Trey Songz and Drake collaboration.
Oddly, there are some huge hip-hop names making appearances in this episode. Click on to see what they’re doing hanging around these parts, and what everyone else is up to.

Wale took to his brand new blog to remix Jazmine Sullivan’s superb Holding You Down. Really looking forward to this as I’ve got a lot of time for the original, and I’m not a big enough fan of the other rappers who’ve taken this beat on to hop on board with any of the remixes to date.

I posted the original to this in R&B Friday: episode 55 and what I said of it then was:
One perhaps the more hip-hop orientated may enjoy (dare I say, even Murray?), this is a track that samples a track by The Firm and also a drum loop reminiscent of Nas’ I Know I Can. A delightful track which reminds me a lot of Mary J. Blige (obviously a great thing).
So it was only a matter of time a rapper got up on this, a little disappointed it wasn’t Nas, but Fat Joe will do!

With Ajay currently incarcerated in some grotty South African prison, your weekly R&B fix has been left with me to try and fill. Now I may not have anywhere near the amount of knowledge with this genre, I can however appreciate a good R&B song.
I’ve sorted through over 50 R&B songs over the last week and have narrowed it down to the best 24 and for that reason you shouldn’t at all be dissuaded from clicking on. We have some real gems for you, from the big names, to many a newcomer. Click that red text to find out whether I’m true to my word, or whether I’ve completely ballsed this feature up….(now that’s pressure!)

Many of your Fridays have been centered around this OTU institution, and I’m glad to deliver this 50th episode of the hugely popular series. I’ve enjoyed writing it as much as you have reading it.
Before you see what’s in store this week, I’ve actually sprinkled a lot of R&B in other posts this week to build up some R&B love prior to this episode that you should check for. First off, go here for Ne-Yo’s new single. After that, check out the final version of Alicia Keys’ Rapture, Estelle’s latest single, a superb track from The-Dream, amongst other R&B-influenced tracks that have been posted.
Done all that? Good on you. Time to get the rest!

New/unreleased tracks this week from Usher, Lloyd, Tyrese and many more to keep you going. Before you scurry off to click through, there have been a couple of tracks dropped this week that were more than capable of headlining today’s episode, but I chose to release them earlier. Head here, this way, that way, and finally here to see which stuff I’m talking about.
Once you’ve done that, come back here, and continue your R&B adventures with more quality music. Deal?
