Willow’s back, and she’s got another huge hit on her hands. Adopting a different style to her huge debut track, she’s gone fully pop with this one and taken a leaf out of Ke$ha’s book with a dance-driven, anthemic style that doesn’t have the trace R&B influences Whip My Hair did.
It’s probably just as catchy as the aforementioned track though, and the maturity of her voice is evident once more with a performance that matches anyone in the pop game right now. It’s one of those that’ll get ridiculously overplayed by virtue of having a massive appeal to the younger audience, but as of right now it’s bearable enough for the rest of us. Stream available below, official release on iTunes tomorrow.
Green Lantern goes through some well-known hip-hop samples and beats to add a different twist to Willow’s huge single. It’s a likeable refresh on the global hit, as Green Lantern shows off his remixing skills with some diverse and attention-grabbing beat selections.
I normally refrain from posting this sort of thing, but I can’t help but think she’s such a phenomenon it deserves a look. A million times more tolerable than other showbiz kids (Bieber), and only 10 years old, she comes across incredibly well in this interview. Full of energy, charisma and really intelligent, you can’t help but warm to Willow and hope that she does really well!
On top of that, you can click here to watch her first ever televised performance. Highlight: she sings a line from Rihanna’s recent single to open with, and probably sounds better than I imagine Rihanna would live!
So, she’s going to be a huge deal. There were accusations that she was only getting buzz as she’s Will Smith/Jada Pinkett’s daughter, but this video will absolutely convince you that she’s going to be star on her own.
Displaying incredible charisma for someone so young (she’s 9 years old!!), she follows that up with great vocals and a general magnetic quality that really keeps you watching. Very gifted youngster, with an incredibly mature sound.
This song/video is significantly better than most artists who are 2, 3, 4 and even 5 times her age-how depressing must that be!? Definitely one of my guilty pleasure tracks, and can be one of yours here, if it isn’t already.
19 tracks from 19 different artists this week tells you that this episode is stacked with variety. Mostly established names too (at least in the R&B Fridays series!), so this is definitely one to be getting involved with.
