The Knocks are an interesting duo. Prior to this remix finding its way to me, I can’t say I’d heard of them but a little research told me they’re actually a pretty big deal in the music production world, and are quite highly regarded.
I can see why, as this slice of pop-dance-hip-hop music is very digestable. The production is ridiculously smooth, utilising a dance sensibility for the primary melodies without over-exerting it: they’re laid on softly, and surrounded by enough live instrumentation to give it an equal measure of organic matter. Throw in a catchy, singalong hook and you’ve got a sound that is absolutely perfect for the mainstream. Until it hits that status, it will certainly find a home as a ‘secret’ party track for the rest of us! A wholesome, high-quality track that will really turn some heads: You would be very, very foolish to miss this.
