Bumper episode this week, with 20 tracks making the cut. It’s been a pretty busy time for R&B, hence I’ve let plenty of big R&B/pop tracks loose early this week.

You know me, I’m all about the analysis and commentary on the audio/video, but give me a chance: this is a pretty boring video. It’s a textbook example of the standard pop formula: a loose attempt at a story, lots of smiling, and some dancing.
Why do they start off in a church choir? What relevance does that have? And why is everyone celebrating so passionately/staring at the couple kissing? Is it THAT boring in the club!?

Sorry for being AWOL this evening, football-related antics and all.
Nice to get some new bars from Asher. Great selection of track too, as this is exactly the type of beat that suits his chilled out style, as it offers a likeable energetic contrast. Just the one verse on this, but definitely one that refreshes the original for those of you who fancied a bit of a change. Looking forward to some more remixes of both this track, and from Asher.

So first Mediafire doesn’t let me upload. Then, my laptop decides it doesn’t like my external hard drive anymore. Then when they kiss and make up, Mediafire just won’t work for me. Annoying.
Anyway, lots of interesting songs in this week’s episode. I say interesting as a couple of them have quite pertinent backgrounds/accompanying news, which will definitely be of interest to most R&B fans!
A whole bunch of diverse tracks in this one, I tried to keep it as mixed as possible with 15 different artists, seeing as we went Bruno Mars-centric last week. Big names (lots of these), upcoming names, collabos, singers, rappers and more: they’re all there and waiting for you after the click.

The track only dropped on Saturday, but we’ve already got the video! Haven’t watched the whole thing yet, but from what I did catch it looked like a pretty energetic video.
I do like the track having given it a couple of listens (audio can be accquired here), and I’m looking forward to see where they go with the next album.

Sorry for the delay, but this was a hard episode, a busy day, and there were upload problems! There are 149 tracks in this, but I’m not going to lie and pretend I’ve listened to them all because I haven’t. The difficulty comes in figuring out the best way of shoehorning them all into one episode: I’ve opted to split up the stuff in .zip file ‘packs’ for artists who had 10+ songs, instead of doing part 2, 3 etc.
Whilst that should work for most, some of you are backwards so I’ve made a mini-tutorial on how to use .zip/.rar files here (Office 2003 or older? Click here). The things we do for you.

Another version of K’naan’s amazing track (scroll a little further down for the World Cup version), this time with all of Canada’s young talents getting together to record a version for the Haiti earthquake.
Drake, Bieber, Avril Lavigne and many, many more appear on this and it’s a really good version that’s worth checking out. Drake’s verse near the end comes with a great message too, nice to see that.

The video here is the alternate one for Morning After Dark, and the track below is one which will not be on Shock Value 2. Apparently, a version of the track will be but minus Chris Brown. Make of that what you will, but the track itself is fairly decent.

Here goes the final version of Morning After Dark, the first single from Timbaland’s Shock Value 2. It now also features Nelly Furtado, as well as Timbo’s new artist SoShy who was on the first version. It’s also better quality, which seems to have improved the track greatly.

Jurassic 5 were an alternative Hip-Hop group who formed way back in 1993, but sadly split up (for reasons unknown) in 2007.
Today’s classic collaboration is taken from their brilliant album Power In Numbers which was released in 2002. Featuring Nelly Furtado - Thin Line is a great track, which is about their experiences with a friend of the opposite sex who was becoming more than just a friend. We can all relate to that, so get this superb track below:
