A fair few leaks coming out from the Shady camp recently, and (purely from looking at this lineup) here we have one that will send tongues wagging.
This is a track that’s having a pop at the state of the music industry, how hit songs just seem to be about catchy hooks and contain poor lyrical content. Unfortunately this is definitely not a recent song, and is believed to be around 4 years old. This is most telling from hearing Eminem’s flow and particularly the horrible southern accent that he displayed on the albums Encore and D12 World. For that reason this track isn’t really as good as I’d hoped it to be, but I must admit his ironic chorus on this is one I enjoyed.

Not long after I brought you the second single from Stat’s long-awaited debut, Statlanta hit the Internet. And I have to say that, even with the ridiculous push backs Stat’s had to deal with, he’s actually managed to put out a very solid record here. Excellent production throughout and I will be interested to see the full production credits when they come out. I wonder how much Em and Dre were involved in the end?
This is my pick from the album. A rather random feature in the way of underground stalwart Talib Kweli yet both come together to make an extremely enjoyable track.

OK, so I might have been two months out when I said it was coming in May. But the long-awaited Statlanta is finally hitting stores next Tuesday (13th July).
This track is produced by everyone’s favourite hit-maker, Boi-1da, and I’m guessing serves as the second single after Success (Back To U).

Not one but TWO tracks by Stat Quo that feature Eminem. These are from a few years ago but were never released, finally been let loose on us probably due to the fact Stat Quo left/got dropped from the label. Both tracks have that classic Eminem production to it as well.

The download numbers for the Still D.R.E. remix were surprisingly high, so I expect those of you who enjoyed that will have been looking forward to this mixtape.
In honesty, Stat can be very hit-and-miss, but on the strength of the aforementioned track my faith is restored and I’ll be giving this one a listen in the near future. Join me.

I’m a day or so off on this, but luckily my previous post reminded me I had this lying around. This is a remix of sorts, as Stat Quo uses the main melody from Still D.R.E., but mixes it up a little and also uses a couple of different drum loops over the course of the track.
Pretty nice additions, and makes the song very replayable. Also, I didn’t realise until this song but has anyone else noticed that Stat and Royce have very similar rapping styles? Something about their flow and technique is very similar.

Sorry for the delay, but this was a hard episode, a busy day, and there were upload problems! There are 149 tracks in this, but I’m not going to lie and pretend I’ve listened to them all because I haven’t. The difficulty comes in figuring out the best way of shoehorning them all into one episode: I’ve opted to split up the stuff in .zip file ‘packs’ for artists who had 10+ songs, instead of doing part 2, 3 etc.
Whilst that should work for most, some of you are backwards so I’ve made a mini-tutorial on how to use .zip/.rar files here (Office 2003 or older? Click here). The things we do for you.

Here at OTU we love bringing you the exclusives as soon as they hit the streets. Remember Stat Quo and his Statlanta project? Well it’s coming: May 4th! (Don’t hold your breath though).
The one-time-Aftermath-employee has finally got the go ahead for his long awaited LP for which not only do we have the release date, the artwork but also the first drop from the album!
Really feeling this track. Sounds scarily like Dre’s drum machine, but I don’t want to start any unconfirmed rumours off.

Kicking off the day with a new Stat mixtape isn’t ever a bad thing. This one is a prelude to his upcoming Statlanta album, and can be grabbed below for fans of the ex-Shady Records rapper.
