Slum Village x Mick Boogie – The Dirty Slums [Mixtape]

Heads will know there’s more to Detroit than a certain doctor’s protégé. That’s right, SV are back this time hooking up with Mick Boogie for a free release. I’m on my first listen now so there won’t be much of a review. From what I’ve listened to so far, that classic SV formula remains intact whilst a plethora of features from Rapper Big Pooh, Phonte and De La Soul keep things fresh.

Elzhi-Kinda Like A Big Deal Freestyle

Elzhi spits a short freestyle over the ever-popular Clipse beat. Bit late on this production, but it’s a nice beat nonetheless. For those who haven’t already heard/read, Elzhi has officially declared himself departed from Slum Village, with his manager declaring the group ‘defunct’. It’s a shame, but I suppose they’re only down to 2 members so it makes sense. Remember to get that Villa Manifesto LP.

Slum Village / Little Brother - Where Do We Go From Here

Appropriately titled track from Slum Village, again, another leak (and last from us!) from their highly anticipated Villa Manifesto LP which dropped yesterday.

Like much of the other leaks I am hugely enjoying this and it seems SV are doing Dilla proud and are going out with a bang.

Slum Village - Reunion Pt 2 [Video]

Off Slum Village’s upcoming Villa Manifesto LP.

Liking this track and simple video, but makes me kinda sad that it is going to be one of their last…

Looking forward to the album!

New Slum Village (Prod J Dilla)

New Slum Village off their upcoming (and potentially last!) LP Villa Manifesto out July 27th.

This has the late great J Dilla on the boards and features something a little bit heavier from him than his soulful numbers we are accustomed to. Elzhi kills it as you would imagine.

Unfortunately this is the clean version but you sure as hell know we will have you the dirty version when it becomes available.

Slum Village and Colin Munroe Collaboration

This should excite most of you. Underground favourites Slum Village team up with one of the better upcoming talents in Colin Munroe. Colin always delivers great hooks, which tend to seamlessly cross borders between an indie, pop and soul sound, whilst Slum Vil’s credentials need little elaboration for those of you checking this one out.

A smooth and atmospheric beat provides the perfect backdrop for these guys to lay vocals down on, with some nice flows in the verses and a great hook as previously mentioned. This track could have a lot of crossover appeal, both across hip-hop and other genres.
