Over the last few months, this guy has been on a fantastic streak of consistency. His talent and passion are evident in everything he’s put out, and I can safely say he’s a rapper I definitely view as one of the brightest talents in the hip-hop game. Comparisons to J. Cole have been fair, and I hope he can mirror Cole’s 2010 successes for himself in 2011.
Here we’ve got his latest mixtape offering, Eyes of Veritas, from which Indi recently posted the very enjoyable Born In ’87. I’ve caught one or two other tracks from this too, and the quality of the content is extremely good, which I fully expect will extend throughout the entire mixtape. There are a couple of interesting features too, and some pretty big name producers involved: click below for the download, and further below for the tracklist. I suspect this could be the mixtape to really launch Gilbere to that next level as an artist, so do yourself a favour and grab that (free) download below.

New mixtape from DJ Kay Slay which features a whole host of familiar names. From the likes of Raekwon, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Styles P, Papoose, Vado, Maino and Ghostface Killah, we can see a huge New York influence on this mixtape (wouldn’t expect any less from Kay Slay!).

A nice little treat for your ears now. New York MC’s Busta Rhymes and Reek Da Villain (formerly of Busta’s Flipmode label) take on Eminem and Lil Wayne’s No Love from Em’s Recovery album. Busta goes in hard on this, not that you’d expect anything less, and Reek more than holds his own. It’s always good to here a freestyle/remix like this, which gives the track a bit of a freshen up. So take a listen if you’re a fan of the original (video for which can be seen here), you won’t be disappointed.

Fresh off his appearance at the BET cyphers, Reek comes through with a star-studded track. This will be the first studio track I’ve heard of his, and he’s definitely going to grab lots of attention with these features. Looking forward to the Method Man verse.

Let’s be honest, the cyphers are the only reason people watch/care about the BET Awards. I mean, does anyone really know who won what last year? Nope, but I bet you could list a few of the cypher rappers.
Great cypher line-ups this year, with the video for the G.O.O.D. Music cypher (Kanye, Common, Big Sean, Pusha T and CyHi Da Prynce) being up here. After the click, there are great cyphers involving Wiz Khalifa, Mickey Factz, Raekwon, Yelawolf, Royce Da 5’9″, Rev Run and family, Ice Cube and family and so on.
For me, the respective winners: Big Sean, Yelawolf, Mickey, Royce and Ice Cube. Honourable mentions to CyHi, Bones Brigante, Diamond and Diggy.
