Obie Trice – Spend The Day [Video]

Obie’s radio joint gets the visual treatment here. Pffttt…. This isn’t my lane at all and I will skip it every single time on the LP. In fact, I’ll probably straight up delete it.

That said, I’m told the LP itself is pretty good so be sure to head over to iTunes and cop that.

Apart from that, I don’t have too much to say about this. I’m not even going to talk about the video. Haters ‘gon hate.

Obie Trice ft. Eminem – Richard

When I first heard this, I couldn’t help but think to myself “Obie”. Statik Selektah on the boards shows his versatility by crafting something in can only presume was made with Obie in mind. It’s got that rolling, light-feeling to it that reminds me in some ways of Obie’s hit Got Some Teeth. That said, I won’t be paying too much attention to this in terms of how I think the album will sound as I feel Obie is going to go in like he did on his criminally underrated Second Rounds On Me. April 3rd is the date.

Another new drop from Trice, I’m not sure whether this is set to be on Bottoms Up, I really hope it isn’t though. I’ve always thought of Trice as being underrated, but the last few tracks he’s released haven’t really justified my opinion, this is no different.

It’s pretty much Trice by numbers, once again talking about how he’s left Interscope and wants to prove that he can do it with out Em and Dre’s input. Yet quite hypocritically he keeps name dropping the two of them. Obie, if you want your fans to move on, you need too. It’s a decent head nodding beat and I’m always a fan of the piano on a hip-hop track. It’s a shame the lyrical content doesn’t quite match it.

Obie Trice-Anymore [Video]

Working here at OTU towers is just like any other job as far as when you’ve been away for a few days, you just have so much to catch up on. My inbox is overflowing with new music, as well as several big drops in the underground scene. Expect lots of new material today.

Up first, Obie gets the visual works done on his enjoyable Anymore track which I gave you a few weeks back. Video itself is nothing spectacular, but makes several poiniant references to Obie’s past which tie in with the vocals. Other points to make on this: Love that Obie is making his own way now with his Black Market Entertainment label and Obie’s coat is awesome.

Obie Trice-Anymore

A new cut from the man formerly on the Shady roster. An orchestral, purposeful and powerful yet equally soulful instrumental with Obie dropping some lyrics with replay value.

Obie may never be in your top 5′s, but regardless he’s a top emcee totally capable of holding down a full length LP to himself. Now, that said, where’s Bottom’s Up

No longer on Shady, but still doing his thing. Obie drops the new street single from his long-awaited Bottoms Up LP.

Been checking for Obie since Rap Name and I hope he manages to replicate his both brilliant previous efforts.
