With all the hype around Eminem’s imminent Recovery album it is easy to forget (or not even know) that there are other capable white MC’s who could go toe-to-toe with any of the industry’s heavyweights.
Necro, the Brooklynite ‘death rap’ pioneer, can be described as a somewhat acquired taste. Although he may not be in the above category with his over-explicit lyrics often crafted purely for shock value, Necro, as a producer is second-to-none (Gihad from Raekwon’s OB4CL2 a recent track you may recognise) and his beat-making abilities are often unfortunately overshadowed by his rhymes.
Cutting to the chase, today is Necro’s birthday. Happy Birthday Necro!
So to celebrate, please find below my favourite track of his from his 2001 effort Gory Days.
(Warning: Not for the feint-hearted)
