Kil Ripkin-The Quickening Vol. 1 Mixtape

One of hip-hop’s best kept secrets, Kil Ripkin brings forth his highly anticipated project. The Quickening Vol. 1 serves as a cosmic ride through the paradigm shift in the spirit of pure, unadulterated hip-hop. Featuring appearances by Charles Herron, Big Treal (Joe Grizzly) and Ike Turner, this project addresses a range of topics from metaphysics, current social issues like immigration and the economy, to relationships. The soundscape features production from Raticus, Eric G, A Jacks, Eddie Cheeba, Tony Roche (The Exceptionalist) and Krutty Ranks; as well as freestyles over some of The Godian’s favorite instrumental vibrations.

So I’ve been sitting on this track for what feels like forever (we’re talking months here), and never really found the right time to drop it. Slow day today, so you should be focusing on this one.

The beat is smooth, chilled and samples an old Goapele track (pre-So Far Gone Drake fans may recognise this as the Closer To My Dreams beat) and Kil drops some fantastic lyricism. This is one the hip-hop heads can really sink their teeth into, and the beat makes it accessible for others to try and get into some lyrical hip-hop. Don’t miss this one.
