On we roll with the institution of institutions, and it’s probably fair to say that the highlight of this week’s R&B has already been posted: having finally got around to listening to The Weeknd’s debut project I was incredibly impressed by it, and would wholeheartedly recommend you R&B Friday fans checked it out.
In addition to that, the past week saw visuals for the latest T-Pain and Chris Brown collab, Frank Ocean dropped off some enjoyable visuals for one of his lesser-known tracks, and finally a big collaboration between Lloyd, Trey Songz and Young Jeezy.

5 weeks away from the 100th episode, and the ‘new format’ rolls on with another easy-to-digest and concise edition. Not too much to catch up on in terms of different posts, but I’m sure anyone with even a sprinkling of good taste will be interested in grabbing 64 Frank Ocean tracks.
An interesting blend of mainstream stuff and more refined soul-oriented material this week, as well as chucking in the now customary throwback R&B track of the week. Click below to be happy.

Genuine reason on the delay this week: I wasn’t happy with the amount of good quality material as of yesterday afternoon, but the R&B/pop world has delivered in the last 24 hours or so to make sure that situation has improved.
Not too much to recap on from the past week, with only the three related items: UK starlet Jodie Connor released her newest single, fellow homegrown upcomer Jaya released a new video featuring two prominent MCs, and Mike Posner let loose of official visuals for his collaboration with Lil’ Wayne.

Lots of mainstream stuff this week, alongside a couple of surprise additions from the hip-hop world and the celebrity world.
R&B recap from the last week: Dirty Money’s new single, the first drop from Trey Songz’s new mixtape, Katy B’s latest video, Willow Smith’s television debut, Rihanna and Eminem’s latest collaboration, and Chrisette Michele’s new mixtape from earlier today. Also, soul heads should check out a great cover of Maxwell’s Pretty Wings, and a remix of Mayer Hawthorne’s No Strings.

Stacked episode this week, with some huge mainstream singles alongside great material from underappreciated artists. Quality wise, it’s one of the strongest R&B Fridays of recent months for sure: one of those where you could easily grab everything on offer.
The recap: Mastered version of Lloyd’s latest, Willow Smith’s debut video, Ne-Yo covering an MJ classic, Rihanna’s newest video, and finally the anticipated video for Chris Brown’s new single.

The very definition of mainstream hip-hop right here (I sense Murray has just felt a twinge of anger). If you’re a fan of any of these artists then you’ll very much like this song, that’s all I’m going to say.

After Miami Heat’s signing of “The Three Kings” (Lebron James, Dwayne Wade & Chris Bosh), Flo Rida & friends believe Miami Heat are #1. I know nothing about the NBA so I’m not going to argue.

18 tracks from 18 artists this week, with a bunch of the biggest names in R&B/pop/soul making the cut.
As per recent routines, I’d recommend checking over the R&B posts from the week gone by: Dirty Money want your love, Trey Songz is already taken, Lloyd has dropped 3 guest features this week, and Ciara recruited Andre 3000 for a Ride remix.

Good amount of stuff in here for your enjoyment, without swarming you with too many tracks. As ever, there’s a lot of variety with some upcomers, newcomers and established artists all contributing this week.
Couple of R&B posts this week you may have missed: the final version of Johnta Austin’s Close Your Eyes, and the official video for The-Dream’s Make Up Bag. After those treats, click on for some more.

Many of your Fridays have been centered around this OTU institution, and I’m glad to deliver this 50th episode of the hugely popular series. I’ve enjoyed writing it as much as you have reading it.
Before you see what’s in store this week, I’ve actually sprinkled a lot of R&B in other posts this week to build up some R&B love prior to this episode that you should check for. First off, go here for Ne-Yo’s new single. After that, check out the final version of Alicia Keys’ Rapture, Estelle’s latest single, a superb track from The-Dream, amongst other R&B-influenced tracks that have been posted.
Done all that? Good on you. Time to get the rest!

49 episodes in, and the fantastic material still keeps coming. The common theme of recent weeks has been a frightening consistency in the quality, as we’ve seen some superb R&B tracks being let loose in anticipation of the summer. Whereas previous R&B Fridays have been a bit of a struggle to fill/review, the past few weeks have certainly made my (busy) life a lot easier!
This week is no different, and you’ve got some very good stuff to look forward to in your immediate future from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Amerie and many more. Not as many lesser-known names as there usually are, instead we’ve got the more established names looking to make their mark. Click on to let them know if they got it right.
Edit: This is my 1000th post on this site, on the eve of my final University exam. Celebrations aplenty!

There, you’ve been warned. Taking full advantage of the buzz Diddy has been getting from his Hello, Good Morning track, Flo Rida has had a video made for his version of it. You can download the audio for this (if you missed it first time round) below.

Flo-Rida & friends take on the new Dirty Money/T.I./Diddy collabo, pretty good effort tbh. With it being a club track, it’s pretty much a given that Flo-Rida would sound good on it.

Have a guess what type of track this is?
Another club one from these two, and it’s definitely going to be another big one. Flo Rida usually flips some old school sample, this time half-using the classic Eurythmics track Sweet Dreams for the first single from his upcoming The Only One album. It’s pretty standard Flo/Pain-big beat, pretty aimless lyrics and such. Grab it if you like his other stuff, as this will slide right in.
Flo Rida-Zoosk Girl ft. T-Pain

New track by Flo Rida, if you’re already a fan of his music then you know what to expect. Good beat, decent R&B artist on the hook and 3 rap verses that flow well to the song that will help nod your head.

This was quite a popular track a few R&B Fridays ago, and the final/mastered version surfaced a day or two back. Those of you who enjoyed it should grab this completed version, as the quality is significantly better.

New/unreleased tracks this week from Usher, Lloyd, Tyrese and many more to keep you going. Before you scurry off to click through, there have been a couple of tracks dropped this week that were more than capable of headlining today’s episode, but I chose to release them earlier. Head here, this way, that way, and finally here to see which stuff I’m talking about.
Once you’ve done that, come back here, and continue your R&B adventures with more quality music. Deal?

Plenty of music this week from a nice mixture of current mainstream artists, and future stars. Keeping it varied with the styles too, as there’s some slower stuff and some of a higher tempo, there’s something for everyone after the click.

The last few days have been very collaboration orientated, and here we’ve got two more intriguing tracks from some big names. I’ll let you all make your own judgements on these, as I’m not a fan of one or two of these artists so might end up being a little harsh on the tracks…

Back to regularly scheduled programming. Not sure what to drop first on here, so we’ll ease you back from R&B Friday with some new Jay Sean tracks.
Before you hit the click below, congratulations to Jay for going to #1 on the US singles charts with Down. That’s a great accomplishment, and it will be interesting to see where he goes from here. I’ve been (rightfully) critical of him at times, but you can’t deny the guy his success: he dropped a killer single and got rewarded for it.
