A thoroughly excellent collaboration. Mansions on the Moon bring their atmospheric, night pop style to the track, creating a powerful yet ambient aura with their ethereal vocals throughout, whilst Work Drugs play on that style with a beautifully dreamy synths and a driving percussion. Filip doesn’t disappoint with his gravelly raps sliding into the vibe of the track nicely, whilst his ambitious lyricism also fits well. Really enjoyable effort, perfect for some winter listening, and one of the more rounded tracks in recent weeks.
Not had a chance to check this out myself just yet, but given recent (quality) drops by Filip Filipi, I expect to like this very much, as should you. With features from SoShy, Kardinal Offishall, Styles P, Ace Hood, Mickey Avalon, Shanell aka SNL, Lemar, Christian Rich and Ana Ivanović, be sure to cop this.
Some new tracks from Filip Filipi’s upcoming mixtape Design & Origin of Stars. What’s most apparent from listening to all of these is the diversity Filip Filipi shows, one minute he’s spitting over a grimey drum & bass beat, the next a more mainstream track like Hurricane Ana (which is excellent, cop that here if you haven’t already).
It’s clear to see Filip Filipi is one of the most diverse new acts we’ve featured recently on this site, and that is exactly what we’re all about. Another thing worth noting is the production on all of these songs being top notch, which is exactly what I’m all about. Go grab these below.
Yep, THAT Ana Ivanovic. The aesthetically-pleasing tennis star joins Filip Filipi and Collie Buddz for the first official single from Filipi’s upcoming album, Design & Origin of Stars. Whilst she’s only on the intro, it’s a pretty sweet co-sign and sets up the ‘tribute’ track nicely.
As Murray said previously, you can really hear the Shyne influence in Filipi’s rapping style. I like his verses on this one, coming through with a deliberate, driving flow that plays off this upbeat and poppy beat nicely. The hook is a good fit for the track, with a memorable melody and catchy lyrics that could easily see this gain some momentum. Wildly different to Slav, this one will be more accessible to a mainstream audience.
Filip Filip (formerly Sin) is an MC of Serbian descent and during his career has worked with and opened for such acts as The Game, Young Jeezy, Cam’ron and Lil Wayne.
This track features a heavy dub baseline provided by Chase & Status and will spearhead Filip’s upcoming Vavilon mixtape. It’s unavoidable not to draw parallels between Filip’s delivery and that of Brooklyn/Belize MC Shyne but it actually really suits the filthy instrumental C&S provide. I happen to find this track very enjoyable and so should you.
