Girls Love Shoes Ft. Dave Raps-Stars

“The electrifying L.A. based pop duo known as Girls Love Shoes teams up with Dave Raps for this amazingly inspiring track. This is where genre lines get smashed, and overflowing with invention, “Stars” delivers unexpected lyrical depth, shimmering synths and a sonic spirit that makes you move as much as it makes you dream. With edgy verses from Dave Raps alongside the soulful and alluring vocals of Nadia Fay, this track will insight a riot in your imagination.”

Cannot say I know too much about either Girls Love Shoes or Dave Raps but based solely on this track, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for both acts. Dave Raps does no harm to his burgeoning reputation with a pair of solid verses delivered with hunger and fire that feels at home on a synth heavy electro beat. Stars is an atmospheric, chilled and infectious song that I’m certain will clock up numerous plays in my Itunes; it’s not a song you interrupt. Frank Ocean (of Odd Future) and Dave Raps-Swim Good

If you thought you knew Odd Future, you’re about to have that perception changed. Frank is actually a singer, and certainly has a very different style to the industrial, ‘shock factor’ style we’ve recently come to know from Tyler and co.

The dark lyricism is still there in parts, but he’s got a very relaxing style, and clearly has an ear for a melody as he comes through with some memorable vocals that suggest Odd Future may just have an even bigger, more diverse (odder?) future than any of us could have predicted. Dave comes through with some solid raps to round off the track nicely, complimenting Frank’s vocals well and showcasing his own versatility well. Wouldn’t recommend missing this, very melodic and thoughtful stuff. Grab the track below, and/or get the full nostalgia, ultra mixtape here.

Dave Raps-In The Morning (Video)

Another talented up-and-coming artist for you guys here. Dave Raps hits us up with the official video for his take on of J. Cole’s In The Morning from Cole’s excellent Friday Night Lights, in anticipation for his soon to drop EP.

The video itself doesn’t really offer much (apart from a hot girl and a couple of journeys up and down in a lift), but it’s what Raps is spitting that I’m impressed with, the guy has a great flow (like a mix of Kanye and Drake) which really suits a beat like this. If you’re liking what you hear you’ll want to grab his recently released mixtape Too Unknown.
