One for the heads this morning. With a heavy-hitting lineup here it’s worth checking just to see who brings their A-game. The chorus is a bit generically annoying but Ortiz’ verse is a pleasure and without doubt takes the throne on this one.

Some of these have sat in my inbox over the past few days, some have just hit the Internets today. The pick of the bunch has to be that 50/Jada collaboration; with the one time foes teaming up for some New York heat. I’ve also dropped the new Big L single from his upcoming posthumous Return Of The Devil’s Son, but not only are the vocals recycled (Danger Zone), but the beat isn’t original either (O.C. – Jewelz).

A slew of talented New York rappers for this posse cut (we’ll pretend Cassidy isn’t from Philly, as lyrically it’s like he’s from NY anyway).
No hook on this one, just each rapper with a verse to showcase their lyrical dexterity and/or street cred. Best verse I hear you ask? I’d probably give it to either Joell or Vado.

The first leak from the upcoming album from Statik and Term (under the name 1982) comes with a couple of heavy-hitters on the feature. Statik drops off an interesting production, which has some of those gritty elements mixed in with a jazzy feel. Pretty unique stuff, and nice to hear him mixing it up like that. The verses are all pretty likeable, with Termanology probably just shading it ahead of Xzibit for the best one.

Nice couple of tracks here, the first is off Grafh’s brand new mixtape, From The Bottom. Absolute monster of a beat here, which will be blasting the bass off your expensive speakers and with Cassidy collaborating, you have two rappers punch-lining the track away.

The second track is Cassidy on his own, where he raps about all the battles and beefs he wants to see happen in hip-hop right now. Pretty cool concept, as it’s the sort of subject us fans often talk about with our peers, “who would win out of such and such” etc.

Exactly as the title of this post states, here are two new tracks by Cassidy, both of which are pretty different to his most recent stuff.
Definitely more on a chilled and R&B tip which you can guess from the simple fact that the features on them include John Legend and Ne-Yo.

For the first time in a few weeks, I’m not rushing to get this done. As great as that is for me, for you it means I’ve gathered a great deal of material and carefully sifted through it all to deliver the best stuff. Not only that, but I’ve offered a little more in terms of track reviews than in recent times. I’m alright like that.
Big names, small names, new names and old names contribute as ever to bring your weekly dose of R&B. I don’t see any reason to not grab the vast majority of the 18 tracks on offer, and as quality goes it’s one of the best episodes in recent memory. Click on to inject yourself with the goodness.

Cassidy reminisces about his days as a juvenile on his grind with troubles with the law and compares it with his life now as a father with responsibilities, who steers away from controversy. Great beat and sample for the chorus on this track which (obviously) enhances the reminiscent subject of the track. I’ll be adding this to my playlist, that’s for sure.

This beef ignited in the summer of 2004 when T.I. made a surprise appearance at a Summer Jam event (everyone thought he was still in prison). Not only did he perform his two hit records at that time (his feature on Memphis Bleek’s Round Here track and Rubber band Man) he also came out and started dissing Lil Flip, challenging him to come up on stage to face him (Lil Flip was also at this event). The reason for this? Well apparently whilst T.I. was locked up, Lil Flip took exception to T.I. proclaiming himself to be ‘King of The South’ and was dissing him during his own shows. This lead to many tracks and freestyles towards each other, including Lil Flip dissing T.I. on freestyles he performed as a guest on Tim Westwood’s radio show. The rivalry culminated with an altercation between the two and their entourages.

Alright, so only 5 other rappers but still. It’s a big number for some.
I don’t really particularly dislike anyone on this track (naturally I have my favourites though), so I’m looking forward to seeing what they all bring to the table on this one. I expect it to be a very different type of posse cut to the one a couple of posts below, but equally worth checking out.

A remake of my favourite song from the T.I. album T.I. Vs T.I.P. Two of the best punchline rappers in the business give us their take on this great track.
Swizz Beatz is on the track too, providing us with one of his trademark catchy choruses as well as a verse of his own. They did such a good job on this they even shot their own video for it, as you can see on the left.

Three tracks from the last day or so. The Cassidy track is over Jay/Swizzy’s On To The Next One, Crook takes on Game’s Big Money and Buck drops something new…sort of. He’s back to dissing G-Unit, which is pretty played out. The track is alright though to be fair.

This track isn’t that old, in that it was made just over a year ago – however it makes it in this week’s Sunday’s Classic Collabo as this track is just vintage Hip Hop. Taken from Statik Selektah’s album Stick 2 The Script, this song just oozes that laid back Hip Hop vibe that first got me into the genre itself.
