Brand new visuals from Calez’s Kid With Raps project, and on top of that it’s all filmed in the headquarters of our GWHH friends over in Chicago. Having been one of the first to recognise Calez’s talent, it’s a nice touch by those guys, and also a good look for our fellow talented reviewers to get some camera time.
It helps that it’s a decent track to set the clip to, with a real head-nodder of a production that boasts enough oomph to rattle your speakers, whilst Calez’s flows are sharp and certainly showcase his continued evolution. The video keeps things clear and uncomplicated, focusing mostly on Calez’s raps and confidence, which is undoubtedly a good move at this early stage in his career. Whilst more complex, ‘artsy’ videos may bring out the inner creativity, Calez is at a stage where he’s gaining acceptance for simply being the new rapper on the block, and hence it’s an effective visual in focusing on and projecting the audio.
Solid all-rounder, and it’s great to see both Calez and the GWHH boys get a nice shine here. Grab Kid With Raps for free right now.

“I named my first album “Kid With Raps” with the purpose of not only telling you that I’m another kid that raps, but also telling you my story. I’ve been holding on to this dream since a very young age. I am now 19, I turn 20 on February 4th and I used to think I would be “on” by this point in my life. That’s not the case and I realize now that everything takes time and patience. No matter how hard it may be, I will take my time and work as hard as possible to make my childhood dream come true.
He’s a talented boy is Calez, and today he drops off his anticipated Kid With Raps project. Middle Finger was an enjoyable introductory effort (and is included in this LP), whilst Rapping Habits was also a decent track, and I’m sure there are many more to be found on this potentially-breakout 16-track project. An upcomer given some shine a few months ago by Murray, the talented Calez comes through with brand new visuals from the follow up to his enjoyable Is Calez Famous Yet? mixtape, Kid With Raps.
Thunderous production work holds this one together, with sharp percussion and deep, jagged synths adding a real intensity and urgency to the track, with Calez bringing his relatively laidback rapping style to contrast nicely with the beat. The video enhances that rebellious streak found in Middle Finger with a humourous and charisma-filled performance from Calez as he raps his way through and escapes the ‘Anti-Swag Correctional Facility’.
Worth a watch, certainly worth a listen, and hopefully that Kid With Raps project is on its way soon. If you haven’t already, click the link above and grab his first mixtape for a solid introduction to Calez.

I’ve been meaning to get this up for the last couple of days as new kid on the block Calez is starting to generate some buzz by not getting any buzz. Wait. What?
Calez dropped a mixtape a few months back entitled Is Calez Famous Yet? but was disappointed (as I’m sure most are) with the lack of support from the blogs. He recorded and shot this in response. Normally I would shun this kind of thing out of pure principle, but the music is very good. This joint is like something straight out of the early ’90s and I’ve read bloggers likening it to that of the Native Tongue’s collective which I can see.
My advice is much the same as my counterparts which is just keep putting out good material and be patient. The cream always rises to the top eventually.
