Battlekat-He Didn't Want A Lovesong (Hyetal Remix)

Known as ‘a mysterious quartet who with their metallic and melancholy avant-garde rock references are defining a new and exciting direction for Scandinavian electro pop‘, Battlekat’s material is new to me but the refinement in their sound that suggests their buzz is entirely warranted. This track boasts an unsettling and haunting production composed primarily of lengthened, moody synths and minimal percussion hits, giving this track a dark, addictive quality. The sketchy, filtered vocals have an eerie quality of their own, adding a wintery and isolated vibe to the production that finishes things off nicely. Worth a listen for sure, and one of those that will really impress the electronic fans.

Ratatat-Neckbrace (Hyetal Remix)

Don’t really know what to make of this, as I’m not too familiar with this style. Hyetal have ‘remixed’ Ratatat’s bouncy track Neckbrace into a dark, experimental track which doesn’t really sound like the original/use the original much at all. This is one the real techno heads will like, as it’s pretty much all fast drums and spaceship-style effects. Video for the less weird original can be found here.
