“Chase & Status return with the release of their new single ‘Hitz’ featuring Tinie Tempah on the 18 July, out through Mercury Records. The ‘Hitz’ digital bundle, available on iTunes, will include the official single, an exclusive remix featuring Wretch 32 and additional remixes by 16Bit and Delta Heavy. ‘Hitz’ follows the release of ‘Time’ featuring Delilah and top 5 single ‘Blind Faith’ feat. Liam Bailey, all from their second studio album ‘No More Idols’, which hit the shops on Jan 31st and has been storming the charts ever since. Although it’s already getting a lot of airtime on the radio and television, I felt the need to post the latest Chase & Status single from their (hit and miss) sophomore album No More Idols.
The video is hugely engrossing and depicts a realistic view of domestic violence, showing the complexity of man and the damaging effects of such obscene actions: The events of the video reflect that there is hope and that there is help for those who are trapped in abusive relationships. In this case, the abuser is jailed before the situation worsens, but in real life, many victims are not so lucky and this needs to change.
The backdrop to all of this is a solid Chase & Status drum and bass production featuring the vocals of the relatively unknown Delilah. Both the vocals and the beat entwine, creating a sound that tugs at the heartstrings in the way that only Liquid drum and bass can.
Taken from their No More Idols album which is set for release tomorrow, Chase & Status have hooked up with the Lady Killer himself Cee-Lo Green. You can go to their Youtube page and preview the whole album right now. I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about the Dizzee track and have had a few people saying it’s going to be massive (it is), well Murray posted this waaay back in the summer, so if you’d like to get your hands on that click here.
Anyway, back to this track, It’s quite a surprising collaboration as I’d have never thought I’d see Cee-Lo anywhere near a Dubstep single. His vocals work perfectly over Chase & Status’ big dubstep production though, leaving us with a track that just has that ‘epic’ feeling.
I absolutely adore both the video and audio from Chase & Status here.
The video, a throwback to the early 90′s rave scene in Manchester, starts with a groups of mates getting ready for an illegal warehouse rave and follows them on their journey through the night right through to the next morning. Think shameless mixed with a little bit of This Is England. With the anthemic like vocals soaring over a mix of dub, d&b and dance the record works with amazing effect.
A perfect track to either begin or end any night out on, as the video would suggest. I have to say it’s one of my favourite records of the year.
I won’t claim I know much about their music, but I know they have a solid fanbase in this country, so I won’t hold out on you.
Drum and bass isn’t my thing but this track isn’t bad at all, with a mixture of genres fusing together to create a very Prodigy-esque track: guitars are spiced with techno, and speedy drumlines are accompanied by the grime sounds of Tempa T. New leak from Kano’s upcoming Method To The Maadness album, which is produced by Chase & Status. As you can expect the beat to this is a superb one of the drum & bass variety (not the 1st time Kano’s experimented with this sound to great effect). This really is a very good track and fills me with great confidence that his album is going to be pretty awesome (which is out in just 3 days)! You can pre-order that here).
Filip Filip (formerly Sin) is an MC of Serbian descent and during his career has worked with and opened for such acts as The Game, Young Jeezy, Cam’ron and Lil Wayne.
This track features a heavy dub baseline provided by Chase & Status and will spearhead Filip’s upcoming Vavilon mixtape. It’s unavoidable not to draw parallels between Filip’s delivery and that of Brooklyn/Belize MC Shyne but it actually really suits the filthy instrumental C&S provide. I happen to find this track very enjoyable and so should you.
A little late on this but I stumbled across it whilst doing my research for the upcoming Hate Is The New Love episode.
I think there is universal agreement that Dizzee’s new single Dirtee Discois straight up garbage. This however, reminds us all that Dizzee is in fact one of the UK’s best spitters when on his game and is somewhat of a throwback to his Boy In Da Corner days. As the titled says, this track is indeed ‘heavy’ and Dizzee goes in hard.
