Don’t really know what to make of this, as I’m not too familiar with this style. Hyetal have ‘remixed’ Ratatat’s bouncy track Neckbrace into a dark, experimental track which doesn’t really sound like the original/use the original much at all. This is one the real techno heads will like, as it’s pretty much all fast drums and spaceship-style effects. Video for the less weird original can be found here.

These guys make some seriously ridiculous videos. Ratatat fans will remember the white parakeet from this weird/hilarious video, and here he’s given a psychedelic twist for their latest offering from LP4. Great track from a great album: if you don’t have LP4 yet, I highly recommend it. It can be a bit samey, but when the music sounds that good it’s more than acceptable! I’m pretty disappointed that my laptop won’t let me view videos (my screen goes into a massive frenzy and shuts down…), especially with a new, inevitably crazy Ratatat video surfacing. From that LP4 album, I expect this to be an entertaining watch: their videos always seem to be! Another video from their very enjoyable LP4 album, this one probably makes a lot more sense than the last! Yet another simple video though, but does fit the track perfectly: when I first heard it, I pictured almost the exact same thing upon hearing the music and not only does that make the video more enjoyable, but gives you a nice feeling knowing you ‘interpreted’ the track in the way it was meant to be done. Many of you will know Ratatat from their work with Kid Cudi. However, if you’ve been anywhere near me, or have some form of regular contact, you will have been drowned in my ravings about their newest album, LP4, which leaked recently. Fantastic bit of alternative instrumental music, and this track is a good introduction to those of you unfamiliar with their stylings. The video is both bizarre and hilarious in equal measure, and is wholly indicative of the experimental and risky (yet very good/addictive) nature of their music. Go bird go!
Probably the best remix I’ve heard of this song to date. It stays very true to the awesome original and doesn’t speed it up obscenely, like most dance remixes tend to. The additions that are made are worthwhile, and definitely make this track ready for a club playlist. One to check out for sure. Kid Cudi-Pursuit of Happiness (Steve Aoki Remix) ft. MGMT and Ratatat This is actually really, really good. It’s got a much eerier feel than the original video, which fits the song really well. Not that the original didn’t, but they fit the song in different ways. I really like the ‘groundhog day’ repetition that they’ve got going on, and it definitely catches a different mindset than the original. Very interesting video, and really well directed. I’m not sure which version I prefer though, I think I’m 50/50. Great song, 2 great videos=winner! What a video. A fantastic effort, which genuinely enhances the song with a great set of visuals. The effects on the video really capture the dream state that Cudi describes lyrically, as he moves at normal speed amongst the slow-down surroundings to develop those themes brilliantly. Couple of nice cameos too, with Drake playing a prominent part and Consequence popping up once or twice.
