Don’t walk away just yet. Yes, it’s child actor Jaden Smith. Yes, the title is pretty lame. However, a look at the tracklist suggests there might just be something here.
There are a couple of tracks that are ‘inspired by…’ well-known artists of a diverse range of genres, including Kid Cudi and Purity Ring, with the former expressing his appreciation for Jaden’s effort on the track. There are also a couple of covers you wouldn’t necessarily expect to see, including one of a SBTRKT track, and generally speaking there’s a sense of variety across the tape that promises much. I don’t think he’s known much for his musical output (leave that to sister Willow, who also features on this), but this could be a chance for him to follow in his dad’s footsteps with success in both music and film, albeit in the reverse order.
