The last official drop from the mixtape prior to its release this Sunday (28th Nov.), Don’t Forget Ya Ring is the first piece of original material we’ve heard from #Lemmeholdatbeat.
As with the previous releases from the tape, there’s a hip-hop undercurrent to the verses, though less so than with the aforementioned tracks as Trey does blend both singing and rapping together throughout, particularly in the second verse. The production is decent, and whilst it does get a little disorienting at times, when it comes together for the hook it works fairly well. By no means classic Songz material, but it’s better than some of the recent remixes.
