Sunday's Classic Collabo: Biggie & Bone Thugs

I’m surprised at myself for not featuring this song before, it’s tracks like this that inspired this feature of mine in the first place. Anyway, better late than never.

I’ve ended up writing a lot more than I intended to, so click on and get educated son.

I first heard this track when I was around 13 years old and it was the day I fell in love with hip hop. As some of you already may know, Biggie is, in my opinion, the best rapper of all time, and this track is what I consider proof of that. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were (and still are to be fair) the best at the fast rapping style of hip hop and have been destroying many rappers on their own tracks since 1991, even 2Pac had to have the beat slowed down for his verse in his collaboration with them. Not Biggie though, not only did he deliver one of his greatest verses in his shortlived life, but he matched Bone Thugs in speed and delivery of his lyrics. Think of the surprise and quality of Eminem’s switched up verse on Drake’s Forever track, but even better.

Not only this, Bone Thugs took the wise decision to cut Wish Bone out of this track and so we were blessed with verses from Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone & Layzie Bone. The result of this is one of my favourite tracks of all time. If you don’t have this in your collection, or have never even heard this before, then I pity you. Luckily you can rectify this immediately by clicking the glorious red text below, you won’t regret it.
