I Should Get Fined For This

I’ve been AWOL for the last 24 hours, so I’m having to put together another catch-up post. Lots of decent stuff for you below (predominantly hip-hop), be sure to click on and make up for a quiet 24 hours in your iTunes library.

aSmash-New Words ft. Mickey Factz
-This is rather good. Using Kanye’s (heavily underrated) Two Words instrumental, these two really do their thing. I’d never heard of aSmash prior to this, but his verse is good and worth a listen. Mickey’s verse is great from top to bottom, and there are some pretty decent messages in there.

DMX-Let Me Be Your Angel ft. Janyce
-This is some good sh*t right here. The beat and hook are nice, and X sounds good too. This is the first single from his upcoming album, and is definitely worth grabbing.

Jamie Foxx-Straight To The Dancefloor (Unfinished)
-The finished/completed version of this is going to be a massive chart hit. It’s got a lot of similarities to Blame It in terms of it’s production and general feel, and will inevitably become a club smash too. Will post the finished version when it’s available of course, but this is worth checking out for a sample. There’s another rough version with Lil’ Wayne on it too, which you can get here.

Royce Da 5’9″-Psycho Flow
-Freestyle over 50 Cent/Eminem’s Pyscho, taken from Bar Exam 3. Not sure who tears this beat harder, Royce or Eminem. Tough one.

Juelz Santana & Lil’ Wayne-Move The Damn Thing
-From their perenially ‘in the pipeline’ collaborative album, this is a half-decent track. I’m feeling Juelz more and more since his Dipset departure, and he’s doing well for himself.

Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek, for you simpletons)-Untitled ft. J. Cole, Jay Electronica & Mos Def
-Holy sh*t. What a lineup! I love every single one of these rappers, and although this is an unfinished radio rip of the track, it’s got great potential. The beat is simple and unobtrusive, as it should be, to enable these guys’ raps to be centre stage. Anyone who likes good hip-hop isn’t even reading this and is scrambling to get it into their library tbh.

Maino-Get ‘Em Tiger
-This is genuinely hilarious. Maino puts a rapping spin on the recent Tiger Woods controversy, and it makes for funny and compelling listening.
