Mainstream Mega Post: Features Edition

When I found myself getting 3 Gucci Mane tracks today, I realised something: I’ve just quadrupled my number of Gucci tracks from 1 to 4. I still don’t like him, but he’s steadily becoming a very big deal in mainstream hip-hop. All 7 of the tracks in this post are feature heavy, and include appearances from Trey Songz, Diddy, Lil’ Jon and others.

Gucci Mane-Spotlight Ft. Usher
-Alright, so here’s the first of 3 Gucci tracks. This is about the only one I can stand to listen to, as the beat is superb and Usher’s hook is very good. Maybe Gucci’s contribution may grow on me given that I’ll be giving this a few plays based on the beat/Usher. Maybe. Either way, this is going to be a massive single for Gucci, and could be the one that launches him to real stardom. You can’t begrudge someone their success, especially when they churn out as much material as Gucci.

Trey Songz-Say Aah Remix Ft. Juelz Santana and Fabolous
-Juelz adds a verse to Trey’s club banger here. The original is gaining some real momentum and this remix will probably get a few radio spins too. I like Juelz switching up the beat for his verse, but I think he turns the beat off for a couple of bars too long and ruins the effect.

Gucci Mane-Street Cred Ft. DJ Drama, Drake and Killer Mike
-This beat is pretty good to be honest. Once again, not feeling Gucci on this, but is worth picking up for the features and the beat.

Dirty Money-Love Come Down Remix Ft. Lloyd Banks
-I liked the original version of this track, and Lloyd Banks hops on to throw a verse in.

Gucci Mane-In My Business ft. Drake & Sean Garrett
-I straight up don’t like this track. I like both featured artists, but they disappoint here (Sean Garrett’s solo work since his superb debut album has been devastatingly bad). FYI, this is the completed version of a track we posted a few days ago.

Lil’ Jon-Give It All You Got Ft. Kree
-A typical crazy club track from Lil’ Jon, whereby you have absolutely no idea what the hell he’s saying but you’ll dance anyway. We all do it.
