100th Post Extravaganza!

Yesterday was all about the bits and pieces surrounding the music, and there was only one new track for you to enjoy. Well, I’m making up for it here with a post packed with quality new tracks, from uptempo through to mellow.

Also, this is officially the 100th post on the site-thanks for your continued support folks. In honour of that, I’ve put music in from a ridiculous range of genres to represent all that we represent, so hit the click.

Trey Songz-Successful Ft. Drake
-Yes, this is the same Successful that can be found on Drake’s So Far Gone, but it’s undergone some treatment. This song’s been getting some serious radio time both here and in the US, and seemed to be the next breakout hit from the mixtape. Well, Trey has taken the track for himself, removed Lil’ Wayne (I can hear some cheers?), added in a second verse from himself and shortened the track. In my opinion, these are all great moves, and will hopefully provide a big single for Trey to launch the upcoming album Ready.

Lupe Fiasco-Shining Down Remix Ft. Young Buck and Matthew Santos
-Young Buck hops on the latest Lupe track, and definitely does a nice job. He opens up the track, and it’s a bit of a shame that he is only on the intro and nothing else. The original is awesome, and Young Buck definitely is a nice addition.

Mr. Hudson-Supernova (Live with a string quartet)
-This is genuinely very good. Hudson’s live vocals are improving, and although they’re not totally perfect, they’re good. However, this is a great all-round live recording and unlike most live tracks it’s actually really good quality, and sounds studio recorded.

Colbie Caillat-Fallin’ For You
-Now this is out of the blue! A female singer-songwriter/acoustic/pop artist in the same post as Young Buck? Yeah, I went there and I don’t care, this is a great track. It’s mellow, it’s summery, and she’s got a nice voice. Download it, and I promise that you’ll be pleasantly surprised. If I can go from Slaughterhouse to this, I’m sure you can.

David Guetta-I Wanna Go Crazy Ft. will.i.am
-*sigh* OK. This is going to be massive in clubs, there’s no denying that. However, my feelings about the previous David Guetta track I posted carry onto this: The beat isn’t his best, and the lyrics are awful. I promised something for everyone though, and this is a fun bit of club music I guess. I know Guetta will come through for me though…you’ll see why soon…

Bobby Creekwater-Business Man
-Let’s go back to that underground hip-hop sh*t. Creekwater is one of my favourites on the mixtape scene, and he dropped this track recently. It’s got that minimal beat, and it’s all about Creek on this.

Marion Write-So Into Me Ft. Theorian
-This is another slice of hip-hop, but probably more hipster/backpack (see Mickey Factz, Charles Hamilton etc.) than the track above, and probably has a more mainstream appeal. It’s a great song though, and I’ve been playing this a lot in the last few days. It’s got a nice hook, and Marion’s got good flow.

Phew. That’s enough. Enjoy!
