A brand new track from The Roots after the click, specifically the title track from the upcoming album How I Got Over. Seriously, how awesome are The Roots though?
The genre-crossing, innovative style of The Roots allows them to appeal to everyone’s tastes. Their numerous albums have all been critically-heralded, and although their various changes in styles can cause some longtime fans to dislike some of the newer material, this particular track has such a nostalgic feel about it that you have to like it.
The jazzy, uptempo production is a sound that was largely missing from the previous album, Rising Down, and is recreated perfectly here. How I Got Over is a bouncy, positive track which is a departure from the slightly more downbeat feel of the previous album. If you enjoy tracks by The Roots such as The Seed (2.0), you’ll like this.
I find myself saying this a lot, but this is yet another track that is great for the summer. It’s not my fault-all the good musicians are either coming back, or stepping their game up. Add into that new artists and discoveries, and we’ve got some good music!
